The Aurea is a plantation in Brazil that is made up of a couple dozen plots, which in Brazil is not a large farm. This coffee is from the first plots and is dried on platforms like an African coffee, which is supposed to lower the acidity of the coffee. However, this cup shows no sign of it. It is a soft bean compared to other coffees, so it should not be roasted past half-city. The cup is complex, with a brightness and pleasant chocolate and cherries notes and a shot through the middle of citrus. Nothing in the cup is overbearing though, and despite having some body there is not the depth you would expect. This is what I think of as an afternoon coffee: the right amount of flavor without being heavy.
