Newb home roaster here. Used this for our first try roasting; Behmor 1600+, very basic test roast settings per mfr's suggestion. It was surprisingly wonderful. Took it about 5 seconds into second crack then rapidly cooled it. Couldn't contain ourselves for 24 hours…so tried it after about six. We got slightly more earthy undertones than chocolatey--maybe more like cacao nibs. Stacked on top of that, a range of flavors including subtle (not dramatic/overbearing) orange blossom or maybe star jasmine, something in the figgy zone, and something we don't have a name for, but bright and fresh. It all added up to a rich layered coffee. We drank the whole pot…after tying ourselves to the mast to resist further Coffee Sirens at 2100 hours on a "school night." I've been wanting to home roast for 15 years--wish I'd started sooner, but glad I finally did.

This bean is quickly becoming one of my favorites! Roasted just to the first crack delivers a smooth cup with hints of chocolate reminds one of having a hot cocoa. Surprise find indeed.

I don't know all the fancy terms for coffee, but after six decades or so of coffee drinking I do know what I like. And I like this coffee. I primarily do cold brew these days and brew if in batches. I've done this bean in both medium and dark roastsand both make a very tasty cup of coffee. You can definitely taste the difference between the two. Medium gives me a more fruity taste and dark more of a chocolaty taste. These days I stick to organically grown coffee and prefer to buy beans from the small cooperatives.

I have roasted 69 countries various regions per country. This Sierra Nevada is one of the three best world coffees I have tested and with many friend's in a blind format. # 2 is the one from Bucaramanga and 3rd is from Tanzania. Everything else is ok but not spectacular. Medium roast is best as this is an exotic bean you do not want to burn.

This coffee satisfies my search for a fine South American brew. I really like the high notes in this bean, which is precisely what I miss when I spend too much time on, say, a Sulawesi (which I like for other reasons, however!). It to me awhile to find the bean that satisfied my taste, and I warmly recommend it to you if you share my pleasure in Central and South American beans.

Colombia Organic Sierra Nevada FTO has become a mainstay of our regular orders. It is rich and very smooth. We are not fans of the sweeter coffees. We like them dark and bold. Each of our orders, we get 5 lb of these beans, and try out some others. We have tried a number of different levels of roast with this one, and have found these beans to be fairly forgiving. We roast in a cast iron wok that came with my grill over a propane burner I use for brewing beer. Which reminds me, I have used these beans in a porter that came out excellent, too!

This is one of my favorite go-to coffees when available. I give it a semi-dark chocolate roast and it’s a delightful treat year round

This is our go-to coffee. Great flavor at a great price. We roast with a rotisserie setup in a gas grill. Have it set up so we've got good control over the temperature, but can't see anything during the roast. Can't open the lid because the temperature will drop too much. Have to time the roast by aroma and sound only. What I like about the Sierra Nevada is that, more than any other bean I've tried, it "speaks" to me very clearly. First crack is very clear, it continues for a bit, and then lets you know when it's got nothing else to say. Some beans sort of mumble and equivocate with cryptic pops and crackles. We're still learning every time we roast, and Columbia Sierra Nevada's consistency helps us track differences from roast to roast. Oh yeah and it's darn good coffee, too!

It performed amazing and everyone who has had the pleasure of tasting it would know it is wonderful, I pushed it to a full City roast and it tasted amazing.

This was my least favorite of the 4 coffees we tried here at CBC. Maybe it's because there wasn't a clear 2nd crack stage and I roasted it too long? But even with another shot at roasting it, we still thought it tasted a bit bitter and ash-like. Usually the decafs are less flavorfull than full caff, but I much prefer the flavors of the organic decaf Sumatra, and organic decaf Guatemalan from this site. I will continue to hunt for a good full caff since I tend to mix them sometimes.

When I first opened the bag of this Organic Colombian I was a little afraid of the quality because many beans were damaged and not consistently sized. However, after roasting this to just the start of 2nd crack, the flavor is incredible. This bean has a natural sweetness to it that I haven’t really experienced elsewhere. A very nice body and smoothness to it as well. Just slight enough acidity to give it some life. I’ll buy this one again!

These are great beans for a novice roaster. They roast fairly uniformly with great depth and character. The brew tastes wonderful.

I have order this coffee bean many times! I have a behmore roaster and have been roasting coffee for many years. My personal reference is to roast the beans thru the 1st crack and as soon as it sound like ‘Rice crisps’ when the milk is added in the beginning of the 2nd crack I hit the cool down. Has all the flavor profile mentioned above!! The crem on top, buttery, chocolate, fruity, lite spicy flavor comes thru!!

We've been roasting our own coffee for almost 5 years. We eat mostly organic food and grow much of what we eat so we thought " why don't we gat organic coffee?" Our search lead us to Coffee Bean Coral and this is our second order. We roast to Full City as we enjoy strong flavor and this product fits right in . We"ll be back in a few months to get some more.

Great coffee bean, roast well: I do it just pass the first crack for me and my husband likes it just pass the second crack, nice brightness.

I am just beginning to learn how to roast coffee. I'm using a Poplite Hot Air Popcorn Popper. I chose this variety because I have always enjoyed Columbian coffee and it's organic. So far the flavor has been consistent. I count on that as I experiment with time and temperature and how they affect the flavor. I haven't roasted a batch that I didn't like.

Coffee is very nice and smooth. Has very little chafe when roasting . Will probably purchase again.

This is a great coffee. I have enjoyed it immensely at about a city roast just at the start of the second crack and would recommend it and plan on making it a staple.

This is a good tasting coffee. Every cup I say, "what a great cup of coffee". I tried many types of coffee, but this to me is the BEST. The finest tasting coffee I ever had. I have been buying this coffee for some time. We ran out and since we had purchased other coffee we used those. UGH UGH. I stopped drinking coffee until I ordered this again. What a great tasting coffee. And my wife agrees.

Columbia Organic Sierra Nevada beans are really good. I will be ordering these again.

Have ordered this 3 times now and it always delivers a good cup. I take it just into second crack ( 10 seconds or so ), let it setup a day or two, and then enjoy. I have a pound in the drawer I'm going to cook up, back up in quarters and send to special friends for Xmas. Oh, before I forget - the Corral is fantastic love the service!

This is such a wonderful coffee. I find it after roasting and making drip coffee with adding little milk and adding whip cream there is a chocolate taste. You can't believe its coffee. I will buy again and again. Reminds me of that semi-sweet chocolate candy.

Dark roasted. I think there's a lot going on here, complex? Nothing that would make me not like it. The description is accurate, lots of nuance, nothing overbearing, nutty, fruity, flowery? maybe, but subtle. Personally If anything I think it's a bit sweet.

I roasted tis to a light medium roast and it very wonderful coffee. Made a cup for my neighbor who usually takes cream and sugar. She said she could drink this straight. I use it in an Aero Press.

I roasted to a perfect medium/dark roast and this bean is wonderfully flavorful, smooth and satisfying.

I ordered this coffee about a month ago, roasted it a few times. I cannot find any redeeming qualities of taste or flavor - it's just boring and bitter no matter how light/dark I roast it.

Only the 4th bean that I have roasted but it certainly has a smooth taste to it and is one of the better ones I have tried. I haven't roasted enough to say whether it will become a staple but I will definitely buy it again once I have tried some other varieties.

I just cooked my first batch today. I’m experimenting with cooking time and color. Dark roasted coffee coffees are bitter and un-drinkable to me. Unless they are made in a espresso maker. I’d rather have it lightly roasted. I’m not a fan of dark roasted coffee like all the younger people rave about. (Apple heads in Cupertino’s mother campus) My next batch will a medium roast. If I opened a roasting/coffee cafe near a Phil’s I could make a load of money with these type of beans. PS. I agree with one reviewer, let them set for a day.
