Highlights of the new "SR 500" model:The F
The SR 500 has three temperature settings that can be adjusted any time during the roasting process;
High Temp = 490 degrees
Medium Temp = 455 degrees
Low Temp = 390 degrees.
A fan speed control has been added to
that allows an adjustement of + or - 10% of the fan speed.
Roasting Capacity:5 ounces by volume, not weight

Approximate weights for a full load roast are: 120 grams or 5 ounces - depending on the beans you are roasting
The CHAFF COLLECTING SYSTEM is quite effective, and consists of a two-piece unit that sits atop the roasting chamber. The chaff should be dumped after each roast, brushed out with a stiff brush after every 10 - 12 roasts, and cleaned in hot, soapy water whenever you begin to see a buildup of oily roasting residue on the screen, or if your roast times decrease significantly.
Proper roasting requires proper air flow, and the oily residue impedes the hot air exhausting through the top. A blocked screen causes the exhaust to be diverted back into the roasting chamber, leading to super fast roasts, which are akin to a steak cooked on too hot a fire - pretty, but rare inside - nice for steaks, but not coffee beans.
