This is by far the closest to Jamaica Blue Mountain beans - well balanced with a tint of sweetness, strong but not bitter (perhaps stronger than JBM), lingering in the mouth for a long time after you drink it. I roasted to the level of full city and used three methods - pullover, espresso and ice-cold brew to compare head-to-head with JBM, it does not stop surprising me. The best analogy, if you are also a wine drinker, this Marre Blanc is like top Napa Cabernet Sauvignon - powerful, strong, with a great after taste.

I'm blown away by this one.
At a city roast, I'm getting a deep date sugar aroma, spiced floral notes on the front end, and a smooth nutty finish that lingers well with the slightest hint of sour cherry. Little to no bitter, but also low on the acid for how light I roasted it. Very balanced flavor.
The beans seem to have a lot of sugar, and roasted a bit darker in color than city roasts typically end up. Upon grinding though, the resulting color confirmed that it is in fact City/City+.
I'm curious about darker roasts, but the light is hard to beat.
[Roasted with a Gene Café, preheated, ~3min@440 during browning, and 11min total@482. Went to first crack, and about 45 sec after@460 to round out the beans.]

Loving the Haitian coffees. A whole new level of smoothness and mouth-feel. To me, besides being smooth, rich, and full-bodied, the Marre Blanc had a delicious dark chocolate taste, which surprised me a little based on the cupping notes. Roasted it to about City, which seemed about right for this bean. No need to go any darker, as it doesn't taste acidic at all at City, and going darker may actually mask some of the delicious flavors.

Roasted to just at 2nd crack using Gene roaster. Amazing taste -- sweetness, chocolaty, and overall balance stands out definitely! I tried latte, ice latte, and americano. I've tried Haiti Blue and JBM before but I think this one is bang for the buck. Haiti Blue seemed a bit more mild, so I prefer this. JBM, frankly I only had two batches (also from CBC) to try out, which did not impress me. I haven't tried it again since then, mainly due to disappointment despite the cost. I will definitely order this bean again in future!

When referring to Light or Dark it is (Light = 1 Cracks and Dark = 2 Crack) and we rated it from 1:10. The Light brew was with 8 Cups of Water and 51 Grams of Coffee and Flavor was Buttery, Nutty taste with a rate of 10 and Strength of Coffee Strong . The Dark brew was with 8 Cups of Water and 47 Grams of Coffee and Flavor was Like French Press Taste with a rate of 9 and Strength of Coffee Strong .

I'm newer to roasting so take that into consideration. This bean while it tasted decent seemed to roast very unevenly. I'm not sure if that was my fault or if this bean tends to be that way? I tried about 6 different batches tweaking how I was roasting each time and still couldn't get a more consistent roast. I've roasted other varities like Haitian Blue Norde, Fazenda Da Lagoa Natural, Sul de Minas, and Ethiopian G2 Sidamo and didn't experience the uneven roasting issues. Again it tasted ok however wasn't as easy to get the roast right as a novice.
