I'm giving this coffee the highest marks. I found the coffee absolutely amazing. I was worried that the price was just for a limited supply coffee on the market. My wife treated me to this for my birthday and I now know that this is some truly great coffee. I roasted it just a few seconds into the second crack and rested it two days. Then I brewed it in an old pour over comet drip pot and it yielded such a wonderful cup that I could not believe it. Very oily in the cup with wonderful nuttiness and a floral bouquet that was like a tropic paradise. I roasted it lighter also. Good, but I highly recommend a full city+ roast(amazing!!) For espresso geeks( I am Silvia+Rocky) This absolutely was the best shot of espresso in my seven years as a coffee geek. I'm just sorry I can't afford this more often. Do it, you won't be sorry!

I have been a home roaster for around 10 years. I have always loved the Kona and Blue Mountain. I take these about 5 seconds into second crack and it’s always near perfection. I’m glad I found The Coffee Bean Corral. They have a great selection and shipping is very fast. I’ll never go anywhere else.

I just bought 3 lbs of this coffee. I roasted to about 30 seconds after 1st crack. Lost about 13%. I brewed this a day later using a V60 with a ratio of 6g to 100ml and the coffee was fantastic. Yes blue mountain is expensive but life is too short to drink bad coffee and its a nice treat once in a while.

This is a fine coffee but, I’m afraid, not worth the premium. Good aroma and mild flavor. I roasted it to one minute 30 seconds beyond first crack which occurred 16 minutes into the roasting on a Behmor roaster at P5 (up to 305 degrees.). Medium roast. It’s not the fault of the bean but the roaster does not allow visual check of the process so I cannot be sure when to stop the roast. But that’s the roaster’s problem and not the bean. In general, I would advise to get 5 pounds of something else at the same price as 1 pound of this good coffee.

Its just ordinary coffee, not worth the price at all. I've roasted beans from all over the world and this has no special qualities.

All I can say... I was late to the party. It is clear I had nearly missed out on a very good thing. I managed to snag a pound of this bean before they sold out. With that pound, two batches were made of about a half-pound each (227 gram). The first roast of this bean was really enjoyable, but felt some goodness the bean could provide, was left on the table. The second roast had one of the temperature steps shortened by 30 seconds, and it made a difference. Previously there was no detectable floral (It wasn't expect it, as it was not in the description). The second batch added a light note of floral, which complemented the chocolate and (unexpected) caramel flavors. Other people had described it as honey, but it was definately caramel. (The wife double checked it, and gave the same interpretation). I did not manage to coax any of the berry flavors out of the bean with my roasts. The coffee is often tasted "blind", i.e. It is tasted without cheating and looking at the description. Expectations create bias with how flavors are interpreted. When the review is written, is when the description is compared with the cupping experience. Cupping flavors: Clearly defined milk Chocolate with notes of floral and caramel. The coffee presented with a velvety body and a lucious full mouth-feel. Statistics: Roast level City to City+, Moisture loss was a light 11.36 percent, Development was at 19.2%. Green Been description: Very consistent in size and character. There was no doubt this batch would roast very evenly. This is NOT a higher altitude bean, so an agressive roast cycle would not be tolerated well by these beans (roast similar to Kona). Roasting challenges: This bean has a lot of hidden character which is obliterated by longer roasts, so the goal was to get to "almost 20 percent development and NO more". Roaster Gene Cafe CBR101 2016 model. Roast description: (uniquely for Gene Cafe CBR 101 models). *Preheat the empty drum to 402 F (206 C) for 5 minutes. *Rapidly stop and remove the drum. Quickly fill with 8 ounces (227g) of green beans. Re-insert the drum, start the roast at 402 F, start kitchen timer. *At 5 minutes on the timer, raise the temperature to 460 F (238 C). *Continue at this temperature until the first pops of First crack PLUS 60 seconds. *On this roast, first crack began at 10 minutes 30 seconds, temperature was lowered at 11 minutes and 30 seconds to 450 F (232 C). *Continue to roast at 450 F until roast is complete. *The goal on this roast was City+, this goal was reached 13 minutes 00 seconds into the roast. Almost all of the beans had VERY light cracks at the tips. *The beans were dumped and force cooled. This was before Second crack began by a very large margin. Post Roast Notation: The great post-roast smell made it quite tempting to make a cup of coffee, but patience prevailed. Roasting notes: Temperature raised from 402 to 460 at 5 minutes. Full Yellow reached at 6 minutes. The first pops of first crack were heard at 10:30. Temperature was lowered to 450 at 11 minutes and 30 seconds. Beans dropped at 13 minutes. Bean appearance: Nice uniform brown, except for a ribbon of golden chaff at the seam.

Easily the best coffee! I roast it towards close to the end of 1st crack around city roast level. Cupping after 1 day of the roast, it still has some undeveloped flavors. After 2 days, it begins to show the blue mountain magic. No matter which level of roast you like, I suggest roasting it slowly and let it develop for a couple of days, you will get the best results.

Blown away by how good this is / was... quite literally #1 best cup I have ever had. Was amazingly simple to dial in the roast and my grinder and wow!!! I cannot say enough good things about this bean. I poured this as an Americano, and cannot get enough :) my wife likes a flat white, and she was also just blown away. Friends were in shock, and I could not get them out of the house. I have been doing this for the last twelve years, and I have stayed away from beans like this and also others in the same range of cost... I just could not fathom the value in it. Well... things change :). And like a few others have said, life is too short to drink mediocre coffee. :). Do not hesitate BUY THIS ONE!!! TRY IT!!!! It still works out to be a VERY acceptable cost basis per cup!

This is my first time roasting this bean. It is pricey but worth a treat to yourself. Roasted to right before second crack, this is a smooth, rich with a light chocolate and honey notes. An excellent bean. I will treat myself again soon.

I could actually tell the difference and the quality is very good.

HAVING ROASTED COFFEE SINCE 1985 (qualifier) This particular batch that I have does not live up to my expectations as JBM. The smoothness is minimal. The body is also. Disappointing for sure. Perhaps next time, authentic Wallenford Estate JBM?? For $36 per lb, I expected a lot more.

Roasted 2 days ago med roast to 430 degrees F. Very nice. Will try roasting to 440 or 450. Definitely worth buying.

it is a very nice and very smooth coffee my wife and I both enjoyed it, however like Kona which we like even more, this is more of a special occasion when it is on sale type of coffee.

This coffee seems to be one of the best to medium roast to bring out chocolate and caramel. I roast and end 6 batches between first and second crack and blend them. I have a drum roaster and use 300g each roast. I roast to temps instead of time. I have altered my roasting profile to get about 20 minutes between first and second crack.

This is excellent coffee. It's very simple (at my 14% and 15.6% roasts) but in a really nice way. Immediately I taste a very milk chocolate sweetness. It's not overpowering but it's unmistakable. That's followed simply by the recognition of that unique velvety smooth mouthfeel. I'll continue buying Haiti coffees to get close to this taste, but wow, that mouthfeel... Nothing gets close. This is a must-try

JBM is one of a kind. it's pricey so not the every day cup for most but dont deny yourself the opportunity to have a truly amazing cup of Joe! Paradise in a cup!I prefer a medium dark roast, just prior to the second crack!
