The lucky number 13 rings true for the Burundi Ngozi Gatakuza––its thirteenth lot was rated the best from the small farm holder’s harvest––and it’s named after the local Gatukuza Wash Station. Its cherries are double-fermented for twelve to eighteen hours with a thorough rinsing. Then, the beans are sun-dried on a raised bed for equal time––the entire process lasting nearly 3 weeks.

Cupping Notes: Green Apple, Caramel, Vanilla, Raspberry, Plum, and Mulling Spice with a nice, syrupy body.

While I've had better Burundis, this is a really good one! I roasted it in my Gene Cafe to City (I don't roast Burundis to more than City+ as a rule), let it degas/rest for three days, then brewed some in my Chemex. Very smooth, nice sweetness, with some notes of spice and fruit. I prefer more acidity than this one offers, but this is still a very good coffee!

I couldn't seem to get much out of this coffee. I'm willing to acknowledge that this could be a deficit in me, the roaster, rather than the coffee, but after four different attempts at varying roast levels, I consistently came away wondering where the interest was supposed to be in these beans.

Had higher hopes for this coffee but I agree with the review by Peter.

I have tried several different roast and still have not come up with coffee that I have liked, My mistake was buying 3lbs instead of a smaller amount. ITs a good coffee bean but does not fit my tastes,

The hubby just roasted the Burundi beans we bought from you. He roasted it to 2nd crack. We like our beans on the darker side. OMG! What a fabulous tasting cup of coffee. Smooth and full bodied at the same time. Now that is a "heavenly" way to start the day.

Sweet with a cherry flavor, complimented by some acidity. Smooth and delicious! I roast to the lightest possible degree, stopping my Gene Cafe roast soon after the cracking begins.

This coffee is amazing! The hint of green apple is NOT sour and the description of "Burundi coffees have an amazing sour taste like green apples and this one is no different." is a misnomer in my opinion. I highly recommend this cup.

This bean delivered as promised! It is wonderfully smooth and maintains its richness days off roast. Highly recommend for a most enjoyable coffee experience.
