Good flavor, the decaf bitterness masks some of the rest of the profile, but a careful City+ roast can tame the bitterness. I'm experimenting a bit with blending it with other decafs here, I'l be back ;)

I am not all that into decaf however my wife drinks it. There are just not store varieties, if any, that actually taste fresh (as far as decaf goes). We have tried the decaf sampler pack from CBC and as it turns out this bean combined with the Brazil decaf lands a good balanced cup of decaf coffee that even I can drink. She has tried the Bali, Colombian, Ethiopian, etc and this combination seems to her favorite.
So what I do (based on another post) is combine the Brazilian and this Costa-Rican decaf in equal parts and roast them together in my Behmor 2000 on a profile of 2. I roast approx 13 oz per batch on the 1 lb setting and take it to a rolling 2C but not much past that because it will get dark quickly and burn once you reach the beginning of 2c. You have to be ready to remove it from the heat quickly to cool it down if you are roasting at a higher profile. I am still trying to get the perfect roast for her and have some additional experimenting to do on this homemade blend. I noticed it takes approximately a week (7 days) of gassing before the "grass" taste is gone from the de-gassing regardless of the roast profile. We label it "COBRA" on our Airscape cannister to identify the Costa Rican/Brazilian blend. I have had some rare experiences with especially great decaf coffees but none I have personally roasted. This blend is good, but I am still trying to find or make that especially "good" decaf roast. It can taste smooth but I am still attempting for something that can be even sweeter and richer although this is still a good contender for our taste.

Great coffee! I’ve sampled all of the decaf varieties with Morning Glory my top choice. However, due to MG availability, Magnolia is not that far behind. My wife didn’t drink coffee, now I roast more decaf than regular. I take it just to the start of a rolling second, anything further puts it into a dark roast. Full body with a nice chocolate touch. I cannot drink caffeine after lunch, but this I will have a cup after dinner.
SR540. 140g 2 mins @9/9 ( to dry/warm up the beans) [email protected] 4/9 ( 400-405 F) 2-3 @3/9( 410-415F)
2nd crack around 7.5 min mark.

Nice cup. Medium body, slightly sweet, and nutty. The "decaf" flavor kicks in if it gets luke warm, but not bad. Using IRoast 2 (lovingly(?) known as IRoar) so hard to hear first crack, when its apparent I let it go afor a few seconds to get a city roast. Love the coffee!!!

I didn’t find it very pleasing roasted light as a pour over, but the espresso roast (FC-FC+) was decent and reminded me of nuts and chocolate. Probably won’t get it again but as always CBC has a lot to choose from and great customer service.

I like this decaf. I roast these beans for 12.5 min. @ 472 degrees in our Gene Roaster. I use them for espresso and Americano drinks. I enjoy just the Costa Rica beans, but I do mix them with beans from Brazil too for a more rounded cup of coffee. The combination is really satisfying. Coffee Corral gets your beans to you right away, and I appreciate that!

Have only done a medium light roast so far on this and it is very delicious, notes as described. Shipping was super fast, will happily order from again and again.

Considering that I'm not especially careful about how I roast my coffee, this made a really good cup of black coffee, which is how I normally drink it. I just roast at 220F for 18 minutes, which is about where it hits first crack, and then I roast it at 200F for anywhere around 16-18 more minutes, depending on how hot it got before and how dark the beans are getting. But this was really good.

Its good when I blend it with my Brazil decaf which tones down and balances the brightness just a little. Medium roast.

I roast these beans using the air popper method, and after 5 minutes, for a medium roast, these beans produced one of my best cups ever. I gave them as a present to my mother-in-law who does not drink coffee black, and she absolutely loved a cup of pure coffee. The flavors were awesome and jumped out in each sip.

The unroasted beans smelled like something similar to a French onion dip and potato chips. Nothing super noteworthy for the fragrance while roasting. Smelled like a normal decaf.
I took the roast to Full City and had good results, especially from a decaf. There was the normal graham cracker flavor that often accompanies specialty decafs like this Swiss Water example, but the other flavors were nicely retained. I picked up mid-tone flavors such as apple and the honeysuckle. I did pick up on the maple, but I think that is more closely related to the resultant graham cracker flavor noted above. The citrusy-sweetness started to emerge as the cup cooled, and mostly on the back of the palate. (Note that these observations were only for the Espresso Americano.)
Overall, for a decaf, it held a decent amount of interest. It does not quite make it to five stars, but it certainly deserves more than four.

Good flavor, but a bit flat as a medium roast. I think it should be dark roast since teh decaf is too weak.
