raw green bean Green coffee is raw Roast prior to consumption

This RFA Rwandan coffee is grown at high altitudes over Lake Kivu in Rwanda's Western Province. It is washed in waters from their wells and dried on elevated beds, then hand sorted to get high quality beans.

Cupping notes: Rwandan coffees have a clean, crisp, and balanced cup with lower acidity than Kenyan or Ethiopian beans. This cup is balanced with a floral aroma, smooth body, and a crisp finish with notes of chamomile, black tea, and lemon grass.

The cup is complex with underlying notes of chocolate and dark fruits and a hearty earthy finish. It has less acidity than most African coffees. The body of the cup is fairly light, like most African coffees, but the flavor is surprisingly rich, with dark chocolates

Dark roast this coffee shy of 2nd crack. Grind 24 (of 40=max coarse). Lighter roasts do not develop flavors. They will disappoint. Changing grind from 20 to 24 did improve the result. Beans have pleasant aroma with no negative notes. Very enjoyable with good after taste. I bought it again.

Roasted in an airpopper took to 2nd crack. Has a good smell after 2nd-3rd day after roast but does not carry through the taste to the cup. Had earthy taste to almost no taste at all. Rather disappointing. Acid level was mild. Will not be drinking this one.

Light roast, resulted in a very bright and acidic flavor profile. A darker roast would improve the flavor profile and better match the cupping notes. Overall the beans were very nice. As always Coffee Bean Corral shipping and service is on point.

As always, customer svc is the best. Packaged well, arrives quickly. This Rwandan is super good. Roasted to a Vienna roast, about mid way through 2nd crk. Robust with a low acidity. Hint of the smokiness that Rwandans seem to carry, this can be enhanced by not venting off the exhaust. Good quality bean, cooked evenly.
