The Aceh Ketiara is a product of its namesake, the Koperasi Pedagang Kopi Ketiara––a women-led cooperative with over 890 members. Formed in 2008 by the current chairwoman Ibu Rahmah, who has managed her own family’s coffee business for 20 years (purchasing cherries, processing green coffee beans, and selling to traders), this group kindles passion for coffee and supporting women in industries. Because of their years of hard work and perseverance, the organization has expanded and became Fair Trade Certified in 2012. Since then, the Koperasi Pedagang Kopi Ketiara has donated funds to health and education programs and public infrastructure projects to improve the quality of life in their community.
Cupping notes: Notes of bakers chocolate, cedar, vanilla and black pepper - roasted at full medium.
Try before you stock up with a 1/2 pound sample!

I was a little suprized to find 20 partial defects in my 1/2 lb sample bag. Seems like a lot but I guess its pretty normal for this origin and process type. I think ill try to find a better grade next time so I dont have to deal with all the sorting.

This Sumatra has found a permanent place in our lineup of coffees we offer. Our medium roast offers a spicy, chocolatey and earthy cup, without citrus or fruity notes. Our customers also love that the beans are Fair Trade and Organic!

Thanks goes out to the Corral for providing the great selection of beans. I roast this till it's dark/oily. If you were looking to critique this coffee, your wasting your time, is the word perfect to strong?.

I like this coffee a lot! I was stuck on another great bean from Coffee Bean Corral, the Ethiopian Yirgachaffe, when a friend suggested I try the Sumatran organic FTO. I roast it to the end of the second crack and it yields an earthy tone with a hint of chocolate and spices. I’m on my second 5 pound bag and I’m undecided if I’ll go back to the Ethiopian bean or not, which says something about this particular Sumatran bean!

Love it! Love the flavor! I use to love roasted Sumatra beans off the gocery shelf but this takes the cake! i now roast my own beans and can never look at old coffee beans off the shelf the same. AND this coffee is organic!

Just recently started roasting my own coffee. I'm loving the Sumatra coffees the best. Also your customer service is awesome.

Very easy coffee to work with. I run it just past the second crack to yield a bold flavor with light notes of earth, a touch of tobacco and beautiful spicy herbal finish. The only downfall to this coffee is the price. My brother doesn't bother using the name any more he calls it "The Good Stuff"

This coffee is the best Indonesian I have found so far. It yields a sweet, Chocolaty, Caramel flavor with minimal smoke or char flavors. Only downfall is the price.

Very good coffee. I made it darker than normal. It produced strong aroma. It is more like a treat with rich flavor. Might be too much for a breakfast with omelet :-)

Found the perfect double roast cycle for these delicious beans. I love it when a non home roaster tastes this coffee who thought Starbucks was the bomb. Coffee Bean Corral is by far the best green bean purveyor from which I've ordered. They have the widest selection of green beans.

Amazing coffee. An absolutely awesome co-op to support. As for cupping, I feel a hint of nuts, some herbs like thyme or sage. There's a spark of citrus and an overall earthy taste. We really enjoy it as do our customers.
