Yemen coffee seeds were used to create the first commercial coffee farms due to their strong roots in sandy loam soil and steep slopes––in fact, Yemen beans survive all other crops in the high mountains. The Mocca Hajjah Natural beans are hand-picked and sorted for the best consistency. The fruit is preserved on its seed and sun-dried evenly on raised beds and rooftops weeks to ferment. Finally, they’re separated, leaving a fruity taste behind. This natural process takes place in only 97 smallholder farms.
Yemen Coffee requires expert knowledge spanning multiple generations, and the Muslot family has been the most dedicated since the 1970s. Now reborn in the 2000s as Pearl of Tehama for Import and Export, it is still owned by Fatoum Muslot. Hardships are constant in Yemen, but the disruption of international trade has not stopped the Muslot family and Pearl of Tehama from exporting this coffee with the highest quality.
Cupping Notes: Blueberry, dried strawberry, anise, and dark chocolate.
