Yemen coffee seeds were used to create the first commercial coffee farms due to their strong roots in sandy loam soil and steep slopes––in fact, Yemen beans survive all other crops in the high mountains. The Mocca Hajjah Natural beans are hand-picked and sorted for the best consistency. The fruit is preserved on its seed and sun-dried evenly on raised beds and rooftops weeks to ferment. Finally, they’re separated, leaving a fruity taste behind. This natural process takes place in only 97 smallholder farms.

Yemen Coffee requires expert knowledge spanning multiple generations, and the Muslot family has been the most dedicated since the 1970s. Now reborn in the 2000s as Pearl of Tehama for Import and Export, it is still owned by Fatoum Muslot. Hardships are constant in Yemen, but the disruption of international trade has not stopped the Muslot family and Pearl of Tehama from exporting this coffee with the highest quality.

Cupping Notes: Blueberry, dried strawberry, anise, and dark chocolate.

Probably the best Yemeni coffee that I ever had. Lots of fruit foward notes; very floral, light to medium body. Definitely worth sharing!

I used the Mocca Hajjah coffee several times thus far. It’s an outstanding coffee that comes from Yemen (where the coffee plan originated from then spread to rest of the world). Thumbs up!

Roasted to a solid medium, about 90 seconds after 1C, I'm getting anise and dark chocolate no problem. It's wonderfully balanced. I'm missing blueberry entirely, and dried strawberry wasn't really detectable but I'll need to try this once again perhaps a little lighter to get a better grasp of this coffee. I only give 4 stars because of the value. For twice the price of many other great options out there, I just don't think this performs quite at the level I expected, but it's still a great coffee.

Very smooth fruity pallet. 482 deg F. 11.5 min in a Gene Cafe roaster. Cool using machine (COL). Or mix with Java-Estate-Kayumas for an authentic Mocca Java! 1/3 Mocca beans to 2/3 Java beans.

I roast my coffee beans in a frying pan on the BBQ. I have done Mexican, Ethiopian, and now beans from Yemen. I like to mixed result that I get. Some of the beans are dark and some light that gives me a more complex flavor profile. But I have to say that these Yemeni beans are more tempermental to my lack of skill than the beans from other countries. The coffee I make from them is more like the coffee I make with beans from Chiapas Mexico.

Tried this just to broaden my horizons a bit. Didn’t expect as great an outcome as I got. Pulled just after first crack for a very light medium roast. Aroma is very floral and light almost like a perfume, tasting a lot of wild berry like wild grapes and elderberry with an under note of a savory dark chocolate. Very smooth all the way through the drinking experience with a very nice and complex finish. I had no idea a coffee could be this sweet naturally, very impressed with this coffee however I may take the next batch a hair darker. Highly recommended!!

I typically prefer lighter roast ibrik coffee but I thought this was a bit too subtle in flavor at this level. Medium roast espresso style brought out a more enjoyable flavor for my taste.

This is my new favorite. I'm traditionally a big Yerg fan. I roasted it lighter than I usually do and it tastes vastly different from other coffees. I'm not a supertaster so I don't have all the fancy words, but I can tell you it's delicious. I pulled an espresso shot straight off the roast with zero mellowing time and it was sweet and delicious as well. This coffee is tasty and unusual in my opinion. I strongly advise giving it a try.
