Jamput Estate is my favorite but this Blawan is a very close second. I prefer a light roast and it took a few iterations to get it just right. A darker roast has a much heftier taste but is a bit too bitter for me. I drink about 35-40 oz a day and find that this bean has lower acidity and less caffeine. Otherwise I'd have the jitters with a sour stomach. Coffee Bean Corral always has the Blawan in stock and has great prices, especially for my preferred 5 pound bag.

I bought three pounds and made my first home roasts with this bean. As wrong as it can be, I roasted 3 batches of .5 # each and blended them to hopefully even out mistakes during the learning curve. These were my tasting notes: Rested roast for 24 hours - strong flavor that boarders on bitter - think Guinness Extra Stout vs. Guinness Draught, sort of coats the mouth with a thin film that slides off quickly leaving behind no trace other than a little “bitters” on the sides of the tongue; rested 48 hours - less tart, more Guinness Draught less Stout; rested 72 hours - the double shot had 1 cm of creama on top, first taste is slightly sweet like dark chocolate, sort of coats the mouth the same way. I failed to make any additional notes but I drank it all up.
