To me, this lot of Bali is not as tasty as the previous lot. Not saying it isn't enjoyable, but that I was probably spoiled by the previous lot.
I roast 90 g for 10 minutes in my Fresh Roast 500.
5 minutes at heat low, manually hitting Cool for 10 seconds every half minute, then heat high until 1st crack for 2 minutes, then heat medium for 3 minutes to complete the roast. 14.9% weight reduction. De-gas for at least 72 hours.

This bean is good when roasted darker. I tried a city roast and it was not very tasty. This bean helped accomplish my goal of satisfying my craving for coffee without the caffeine. Also, I wait 2-3 days after roasting before brewing. Normally, I start brewing my caffeine roasts after 24 hours and am satisfied with the taste. Not the case with this one.

I'm new at roasting. But, I made this decaf and was blown away by the taste. It is strong and tastes amazing. I am not normally a decaf drinker, but I work the graveyard shift. Every once in awhile, when I get home in the morning, I craved a cup of coffee before I went to sleep. Now, I can have my satisfying cup, feel like I am drinking the real thing, and still be able to get my full 8 hours.
Thank you, Terry, for recommending this to me.

I made the coffee and prepared myself for the usual ho hum decaf taste. I was knocked over!! This stuff tastes as good and the leaded blends. I am hooked.

I bought the decaf sampler. I started with the Morning Glory. WOW is all I could say. This is better than some of the leaded beans I use. My wife has always disliked coffee, now I am roasting double batches. Great stuff.
SR540, 2m @ 9/9. 4 m @ 5/9 or until 400°, apprx 4 min @ 4/9 until start of rollling 2nd crack.

My favorite decaf coffee. Definitely best at a dark roast. Rich full tasting coffee with hints of cocoa.

This is there best decaf, by my judgment, and I haven't even tried them all--yet.
I'd be surprised if there's a better one available.
Also, I didn't taste any earthy tones, which I equate to a dried grass smell/taste.

A great decaffeinated bean. Roast to a medium dark. First crack plus 3 minutes. Light nutty aroma and taste. Excellent as a morning Joe or a evening desert coffee.

As I'm new to roasting I took it to a lighter city roast. It was very well rounded and we enjoyed the half pound. I wish we could get 1.5lb bags so we could try light, med, dark roast.

First off, I love most coffee if I roast it. I have been roasting for about 2 years now, last 9 months or so decaf only. I agree with Mr. Snow that this needs to be medium dark to dark roast for best experience. But, I did try a nice blond roast, stopping just as first crack gets going and cooling quickly. This has made for a nice summer coffee that is more enjoyable in warmer weather. I tend to like the Peruvian decaf but hold this one on par with the best I have had. Also, fun easy roast.

I keep coming back to this as my favorite decaf. Roasting my own has permitted me to enjoy a good cup and my friends are consistently impressed with the flavor profile possible with this decaf. I drink 95% + espresso and this bean dose well in this scenario. I roast small amounts, about 9 minutes total roasting time, to about 5 seconds into second crack and then actively cool the batch. it does seem better after about 2 day of rest.

I tried roasting it in my 1400w airpopper. With no low setting available on the machine, the roast came out uneven, with some going well into the 2nd crack, while some still just at first crack. That being said, the taste is still quite good. I agree with others that waiting 48-72 hours produces the best flavor. I am new to Bali, especially decaf, and am favorably impressed. Just need to try in a different roaster next time.J

Bali Hai is a delicious decaf coffee. My husband and I are new to roasting but we’ve found that it roasts to our liking just a few seconds into 2nd crack. It’s dark and nutty tasting but also smooth as if it has cream in it already. Delightful and favorite bean so far!

I am not new to roasting, I’ve been buying coffee from CBC for 15+ years sooo much fun trying and testing coffees from all over the world. My wife likes to limit her caffeine intake so we tried the Bali SWP WOW! I hate to say it but it blows away a lot of my favorite beans away! I host coffee parties all the time and of course my caffeinated coffee goes the quickest, when I run out I’ll sneak in and pour the decaf craft into the caffeinated craft so I don’t have to pour out what is left, I get remarks like “saving the best for last?” I just smile and say “you caught me!”

Per some reviews I roasted it (very) dark (SR800-finishing about 500 deg), which I love. I drink my coffees strong Americano. I definitely detected a hearty earthy flavor and an overall complex effect on my tongue, which has been unusual for decafs for me. Great as a stand alone coffee.
I tried it in my regular half-caf regiment and it tended to overpower the caffeinated Haitian counter-part, unlike the mild Peruvian decaf I usually use. Bali Hai is a keeper though.

This is the best decaf I have ever tasted. I roasted to a medium level and the chocolate flavors were very nice and pleasant. We make an espresso/oat milk drink for an after dinner and it's very good.

Was skeptical of this- "how can decaf coffee taste good?" Well, this one does! It's also very forgiving with the roast as I took it past second crack and it was still delicious!

Gosh this coffee is fantastic! I cut my caffeine with decaf 50/50 just because I am so sensitive to caffeine but coffee is my favorite thing in life (I am not joking). The flavor of this just on its own is better than any other coffee of any kind I have had. Once it's roasted and off gassed for a day or two the aroma is heavenly and flavor matches it. I go just past second crack I like very dark roast and this holds up to it beautifully. I am on my 4th order of it. Rich, bold and SMOOTH. Worth every penny.

If I could only have one decaf, this would probably be it. I’ve roasted almost 10lbs of this so far and it’s consistently yielded a great cup. It’s what you want from a decaf - full body, chocolate flavor and a really satisfying finish with no bitter aftertaste. I roast on a FreshRoast SR800 and take this one to Full City +, right to the start of second crack. Decaf is a wonderful experience that is typically underestimated. I continue to be impressed by the quality of these decaf varieties. For this to be Swiss Water process rather than mountain water and taste this good is amazing. Highly recommended 👏

First decaf coffee that I have liked. I recently had to switch due to PVCs. As someone that roasts my own coffee and searched for years to find my ideal farms to source from, this has been a hard and depressing transition, but I'm thankful for finding this. It is the first decaf that roasts up and tastes bomb in a latte. I will be ordering a LOT more!

One of my favorites. I drink 1/2 decaf and 1/2 reg coffee during the morning, then decaf at night. This one blends well with regular coffees and by itself is really nice -never bitter even though I roast it until it is oily.

We are relatively new to roasting and this was a fantastic choice.
We roast 8oz on a cafe genie for about 13.5 minutes with a max temp of 449 from room temp for medium to dark roast. I find it strong and tasteful enough. When brewing with a pour-over we found ourselves using a lot of grounds. But we found our favorite method is using a GSI four-cup expresso maker. This is our favorite coffee for morning (sometimes blended) and especially evenings. As noted by other reviewers this does need to de-gas.

I am new to coffee roasting, generally drink 1//2 reg and 1/2 decaf. And I have always liked dark roasted coffee. This was really great. It had a really rich taste to it but was not bitter at all. I will be ordering more of this one!

I love a full bodied coffee, and what really sold me on this coffee was the description of how smooth it was. I usually take the roast to right at second crack, and this makes for a beautiful roast. If I’m going to enjoy a dessert after supper, I will brew a couple of cups of the Bali Hai. This is a wonderful and versatile bean to roast. Get some and enjoy the flow of the baritone sax.

Bali Hai Organic Decaf is the best decaf I have roasted. It is also the best Organic decaf I have tasted. It stands up well next to both decaf Peru and decaf Columbia, which are the standard decafs in my New England area.

This is an excellent decaf. It has great flavor and is clean finishing. The Swiss Water Process (SWP) means water is used to decaffeinate the beans instead of mild acids. I generally roast this City+ with good results.

I drink regular coffee but my wife can’t handle the caffeine so I ordered decaf for her. I had to roast it a little darker than regular coffee but the results were incredible. Perfect strong coffee taste.Better than some of the regular coffee I’ve tried. I make my afternoon espresso with it and love it. Definitely 10

I'm not a coffee expert but I've been roasting for about 3 years. This is one of my favorites by far.
I roasted it 30 sec into 2nd crack.
..smooth,rich, I've used it for cappachinos, and Americanas and European coffee.
I ordered 3 more lbs.

An excellent coffee even for those who don't usually drink decaf coffees. Have offered it to my "caffeine-only" friends, who are now convinced that a decaf coffee can be just as pleasing. This one has become my favorite.
For those who want to spend a nice evening with a lot of flavor, but don't want the buzz. Has a very smooth aftertaste. For those who try it for the first time, I always get a "oooh".

I was looking for a Papua New Guinea decaf and decided to go with this bean. My decaf drinkers love it, and the regular drinkers state that it smells perfect.
Roasting went as other decade did with no issue. Aroma was wonderful.
Post grind fills the kitchen with lovely odors.
There was a gap between batches and I made them a folders pot. Not happy. Glad when the Indonesian was ready to grind.

This was a great find! I roasted to a light french roast. My husband, my 4 year old, and 9 year old loved this decaf coffee. I added a small amount chocolate flavoring oil for my kids. They take it with a bit of milk. Everyone loves this coffee and we can't wait for it to be back in stock!
