Description

raw green bean Green coffee is raw Roast prior to consumption

This Central and North American blend consists of beans from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, and Guatemala––otherwise known in the past as “The Four Horsemen.” Their harvest calendars are tied together, they’re all wet and dry tropical environments, and their beans are grown on Mesoamerican highlands. This concoction was originally created for a customer, but the taste was so astounding we knew everyone needed an opportunity to try it! The distinguished balance of acidity and fruitiness gives the coffee a unique body with an unforgettable flavor.

I was messing around with 204 - 225 roast levels. I couldn't quite find the right dialed in flavor until; I blended a darker and lighter roast of the same bean. This blend is nice and smooth, in the darker ranges it has that classic dark chocolate sweetness you're looking for. In the light ranges it's very sweet brings out the carmel and floral notes. Good blend and decent price from CBC.

I would say the flavor profile is spot on. I roast on a Gene Cafe at 464. Just prior to second crack and it looked ready. It has a nice mild flavor and made great shots.

Your review on this on is right in the money. Perfect balance and smooth flavor goes over the taste buds. This is another one of my customers favorite. I roast 2lbs at a time going 20 seconds into 2nd crack making it a nice med-dark roast. I found all the fancy names given to the roasting confuse’s most people and most will ask for a dark roast. Until you send them the med-dark. Then they can’t wait for their second batch.

Roasted it on Fresh Roast SR800. I did 4:14 development time and dropped it at 408F bean temp. It is a nice Full City roast (-14.4% loss). It is full bodied, nice sweet chocolate notes. I really enjoyed it. Brewed it with aeropress. A very good coffee.

I am a fortunate wife, whose husband loves to roast coffee. For about two years, & always buying hubby the sample packs, I have been journaling each cup, so that I can better understand which flavor profiles I enjoy. When I go to coffee shops I scoff at blends, as it seems a cover-up for crappy beans. LET ME KNOW where they’re from!! But now I have tried so many that I couldn’t decide what to get next so I decided to try a blend variety from Central America. Wow!! So glad I did!! This one in particular is my new favorite. I really hope your long time. It is so smooth and the flavor is so delicious!! This will be a coffee. I would get my husband to roast for Christmas gifts. Yum!!

Always a favorite of mine. I roast this light & it never disappoints. Crisp, clean & I get notes of chocolate, & citrus out of my SR800 or my SR540. Great as a cold brew as well.

I thought I’d give the Four Horsemen blend a try a month ago after I read the good comments about it. I roasted on my Gene Cafe by preheating empty glass drum at 402° F for 5 minutes to then drop the beans in and set the temperature down to 320° for 3 minutes. At 3 minutes raise temperature up to 475° until hearing 1st crack . The time varies as I roast outside in Eastern PA . After 1st crack lower temperature to 437 until 15 seconds into second crack. I keep a close watch after the second crack while using a flashlight to check for a nice even color. When I think it’s done i emergency stop the roast and dump the roasted beans onto screen sitting on top of empty box with a fan underneath to cool down the beans immediately . This blend is my daily drinker. Very satisfying easy drinking cup of coffee. I’m now trying it for espresso which also is a good option.

The best blend I have had. I use the Gene Cafe, 482 degrees for 12 minutes then pull it right off and cool it down.

Bold, smooth, full of flavors that compliment each other well. The 5 rating on CBC Matrix is right on the nose. I am picky about black coffee but I will gladly drink a cuppa straight from the pot; but I do add a sweet cream to this blend which enhances it's flavors without taking away from coffee. Started with pre-heating roaster to 220C and continued until first crack and then raised temp to 240C until second crack. Turned off heat but kept agitating beans for another 5 mins (I don't know if my roasting process is a normal way to roast but it works well for my roaster and hasn't given me a bad batch yet). Total roast time was about 20 mins with a medium roast.

Just roasted this blend of beans for the first time yesterday, 3/28/22. All the beans seem to have roasted evenly and have a uniform color. 1st crack on my Fresh Roast SR540 was at 412* (around the 8:35 mark) and I roasted them til the last crack at 435* (10:10 mark) Another roast that I am excited to try in a few days!

I have roasted this blend 56 times. I roast 1lb total, 4oz at a time with a SR800. Somewhat time consuming (I just love roasting) but very easy to control. As you can see, I love this blend. Buying more as I write this! I roast 1 minute out of first crack which is approx. 445 degrees. Each roast usually lasts 10 minutes since I start at 9 air-1 temp and change every minute until i reach first crack which is usually between minute 7 & 8, by this time I'm at 4-7 and I leave it at that setting until cool down which adds another 1 minute. I have noticed that outside temp and humidity play a role in my roasts too. Because I keep very good records I can predict most of the effects and adjust if needed. Keep On Roasting and supporting Coffee Bean Corral.

This coffee is absolutely delicious. So smoothe. So balanced. So much flavor. No doubt I will purchase this again! Roasted just into second crack is the sweet spot.

THis is my third purchase of Four Horsemen. The first time I roasted it too light. I found that the medium roast was the best. I'm not a fan of dark roast yet the medium roast maintains the sharp taste I like. I compared it to a few others and found that I prefer blended beans like this one.

I use my coffee beans 2 ways, one is to make green coffee for the health reasons and the other for my hot coffee that I roast dark I wanted to try the 4 Horseman and it turned out great to work both ways for the green and the roasted. I am very happy with the way it turned out. But I still like a good selection of beans. Thank You Jack

My everyday coffee and one of my staples in my coffee lineup. I roast a light medium and a medium dark. Both produce a different coffee and notes. Definitely will keep buying.

Low acid coffee. I roasted to a medium plus, but probably need to go to second crack next time. It reminds me of a Nicaraguan coffee that I roasted last year. Light and mild. I think I'm simply a fan of stronger coffees.

It would be nice to see recommended roast levels on all your coffees. I like this one, and roast it to just before/during the first 30 seconds of second crack.

Very well rounded coffee. With my roaster, these beans have consistently produced the best results. Balanced, a bit of fruitiness, and some nutty finish.
