I’m a newbie in the coffee bean roasting.
I’ve finished going through the CBC Organic sample pack and found this to be the best. So I ordered 3 lbs of it. The Costa Rica and the Guatemala came in a close second.
I use the Fresh Roast for roasting with the extension tube. Works great so far
I like this bean at a medium roast. I’ve learned that I don’t need to go past 7 on the heat to get just the way I like it.
It’s going to take me a year or so to go through the various sample packs and revisiting some to come up with my top 4 beans.
For now this is my second favorite bean I’ve ever had. Kenya AA being number one but I haven’t started my African sample pack yet so who knows. After I got my 3 lbs order I was glad to hear that it was sold out. Meaning it’s popular and that new shipments would be coming in soon

I mix this and Monsooned Malabar together 50/50 to make a wonderful morning cup, enjoyed before my morning espresso.
I roast it in my Gene Cafe set at 482 until I am about 15 seconds into first crack and then roast for another 4 minutes at 431 degrees. This gets most of the chaff off the beans before cooling.
Let it rest 3-5 days to de-gas and you have some wonderful coffee.
I also roast this blend for my neighbors.

18 Rabbit is wonderful, roasted one minute into the second crack. Lots of Dark chocolate and Caramel flavors. Very sweet and smooth as advertised. Will definitely buy again.

ROAST REVIEW 10/05/2023
Open campfire of maple hardwood in northern Vermont using antique wire mesh popcorn popper. Roasted 1 pound in increments of about 1/3 cup per time.
Grey-green bean turns green at first, and then slowly browns to first crack. Small beans uniformly roast with very little chaff. Was easy to roast to 1st crack then the beans quiet down slowly darken and then enter 2nd crack phase. Beans will continue roasting to dark and cover themselves with a shiny gloss of oil. Not overly oily and these beans are EASY to roast. A beginner can roast these over an open campfire. Made a light roast, a dark roast, a med-dark roast, espresso, and a lot of medium roast. As it was easy to roast, the freshly Roasted beans also had a very pleasant coffee smell. (Not all beans do that during roasting - some have to cool down first.)
Recommended for campfire roasting due to ease.

I almost don't want to post a positive review in fear others will buy this out. Literally the best coffee I have roasted so far. This stuff is amazing. I thought I only liked natural coffee until I drank this.

Not my first order of this one. Will be ordering again. I found that I like to take it just a bit past second crack (like a medium dark). I enjoy the chocolatey taste and aroma.

Roasted up to 2nd crack. Sweet and chocolatey. Did a half and half mix with Bolivia Apolo washed. The combo gave it a subtlety that was delightful. Will surely order more of both.

This coffee is great. Would definitely recommend can’t wait to try the other processes from the same producer.

It is indeed chocolaty...Roasted it a bit past 2nd crack and can't get over how chocolaty and sweet it is. Only 4 stars because, as a result, it is not as complex but the description in the header and the comments are accurate. If you like dark chocolate, you have to try it. I mixed it with other more fruity beans and it overpowered them...Will probably always keep some around to mix with other beans.
