This bold organic coffee blend brings out the best of African and Asian coffee beans. African coffees are usually described as complex, fruity and floral. These are stronger, fragrant-rich, and full-bodied flavored beans. Asian coffees tend to be earthier and darker than most other regional blends. These coffees tend to be smooth, dense, and exotic with dark chocolate, bold nuttiness, and subtle earthy tones.

We think this coffee is best as a dark roast, but your taste will be the final decider! Let us know how you roasted this variety in the product reviews.

Good flavor and body. We drink a half-caf and it's a good for the caffeinated part of the blend. Using a popcorn popper, 1st crack at 3:20 minutes stop at 7:00 yielding a full city roast, just before 2nd crack. Wait at least 2 days before enjoying. Chaff starts in a few seconds.

I've home roasted for about two years, now using a second-hand Nesco Professional Home Coffee Roaster. Big Black calls for a 20-25 minute roast, including air fan cooling for the last 5 minutes. I programmed for 24 minutes because I like darker roasts. Even with a medium dark roast, Big Black came out incredibly smooth, almost as if I had added a pat of butter to the coffee. No bitterness at all, even though I sampled a cup less than thirty minutes after the roast.Highly recommended for home roasters of all experience levels.

No problem roasting. Not a strong "blueberry" taste, but has the body and aroma characteristic of East African coffees. A good compromise blend for people who like moderate fruity notes and a strong earthy body.

Part of the sample pack and I used it to learn more about my Hottop K2+. I liked the sample enough to buy another pound. I experimented at different roast levels and liked it best at City+. We ground the coffee at different settings for a pour over and an Aeropress. Good taste all around. Great body and mild acidity. This blend is now part of our rotation and what I gift to friends. Planning on buying more in the future. Cheers! Davecx

This is a review of the Big Black CBC Organic Blend. 1st I am a novice at roasting. I use a 3.5 QT Cast Iron Lodge Fryer. I set it on a cold electric burner and turn the Burner on to 6 (out of 10) and let burner and pan heat for 10 minutes. I roasted 8 oz for 20 minutes (near the end of 2nd Crack (i think)) Nice oily dk roast. I let it rest for 2 days. Made coffee in an aeropress with 48 grams of semi fine grind (Hario Conical Burr Grinder) Added 195 degree water about half way up and stirred for the bloom,,, glad I did cause it bloomed more than I am used to, This ultimately made a mug (16 oz) of coffee.... taste was what i wanted, bitter, earthy w/a hint of sweetness... but so smoooooth, no acidic kick. I wont commit to this as my go to bean....cause there are just so many beans to try,,, I will keep buying from CBC!

Roasted a small batch of this a Zenroast in to 2nd crack. Prepared some in a Chemex 10 and 34 hours after the roast. Very flavorful if you like a dark roast style coffee. After enjoying the sample pack, I ordered a 3 lb. bag. I’ll be drinking this one frequently.
