Rancho San Francisco is an exclusive to our trading partner, Vournas, and perhaps one of the most underrated and undervalued coffees in all Central America. The “Rancho” as we call it is Strictly High Grown (SHG) by third generation farmers, Delmar and Fernando Moreno Guillen on their family estate in the mountains of Chiapas. The farm utilizes a significant amount of natural shade trees, and while not certified organic, it is naturally grown and processed without chemical fertilizers. Our Mexico Rancho San Francisco is comprised of mostly Typica and Bourbon varieties, but there are a few Caturra trees still producing in some areas of the farm.
Overall this is one of the most versatile coffees around—it can be roasted across the spectrum, blended, or enjoyed as solo cup or single origin espresso. The beans are relatively softer than other high grown centrals and develop a bit faster in the roast, coming out looking nice and BIG!
Cupping Notes: Medium body, medium acidity, with notes of vanilla, almond nuttiness and slight hints of peach.

This is the coffee equivalent to comfort food for us. Roasted fairly deep into second crack, ground coarsely and brewed just short of boiling. When we need the simple, familiar warmth of grandma's house on Thanksgiving, this is where we turn. Not exciting or exotic, just perfect.

The SF is a very good coffee. It has a heavy mouthfeel and I like the flavor. I roasted a little beyond second crack. I do taste the almond in it. It seems that as it gets cooler, it gets more bold in the cup. I will give this one a thumbs up.

I went to second crack with this roast. The oils were not present on the bean however. This is a very good tasting coffee. I am tasting the almond flavor coming out. As it cools it even has more flavor come out. Really good.

Excellent coffee and easy to roast.

The San Francisco is OK, but I much more prefer the Chiapas Turquesa. To me, the SF's taste was kind of "muddled", not to be confused with complex. It was actually kind of boring. Not bad by any stretch, but there are so many more that are much more exciting. The Turquesa by contrast, really was complex. It had different notes, but I could actually pick them out. It was brighter and much more vibrant.

I love this coffee! It has a very nice aroma, and taste. I also appreciate the story behind the bean, so i really like that this is a family farm business that I can support.

Nutty, smooth coffee. A good every day coffee.

This one is a good strong coffee, always satisfying. Good quality and freshness in the cup. I love it. It reminds me of misty alps where the air is crisp and clean, only it is warm, not chilly!

A very nice breakfast cup that is creamy with notes of roasted nuts, fresh baked bread and milk chocolate. Very easy roast, rest for 4-5 days and brew. Works well drip as well as French Press. Roast to citi+

I'm just starting out with roasting at home so I'm still experimenting a little. That I like this coffee. Very nice flavor and aroma. Really believe that once I have this figured out I will be purchasing this again.

This has been an incredible cup of coffee, one for the most popular currently in our roastery. Our customers love it and I drink it most mornings as well. If you haven’t tried it then do it! What are you waiting for! I have found it to be a chocolate forward coffee with hints of peach and other stone fruits. Enjoy!
