Grown in the western part of El Salvador within the Apaneca Ilamatepec mountain range where the fertile land is perfect for coffee beans, this new variety is grown on the Magana-Menendez family farm––1,000 meters above sea level. With over 100 years of experience, the struggle for sustainability and social function has been the Magana-Menendez family’s main focus, and this attention to detail helps produce their high-quality coffees and preserve the coffee’s ecosystem with the Rainforest Alliance.

I used a Hot Top 2 k roaster with Artisan controller for this roast. The El Salvador Finca la Esperanza is the lynch pin of a 4 coffee blend I have been experimenting with the blend is called DSH [Diane's Sweetest Hug] the blend consists of 4 coffees in equal 75g parts=300g 1. EL Salvador Finca La Esperanza 2. Papua New Guinea Purosa A/X 3. Dominican Republic Ramirez Red Honey 4. Mexico Cepco Oaxaca Roast. Roast the 300gs beans 30 sec past first crack. the yeld will be sweet complex without being bitter. A great breakfast blend.

Outstanding! Smooth, rich, chocolatey without being too bold. This is my new favorite coffee.

I roasted it at 240 C for 18 minutes, just past second crack, which produced a dark roast. The first thing I noticed was a batch of beans remarkably free of defects. I brewed it in a mokka pot, added a dab of honey and some heavy whipping cream. The result was a rich smooth cup of delicious complexity and absolutely no bitter aftertaste. This is my new favorite coffee. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this.

With all the coffees I've roasted, my favorites seem to be Central American coffees, and of those, this one is my favorite so far. I'm supplying the coffee for a four-day stayover with six friends at an air B&B, and I've decided this is the coffee I will bring, roasted full-city to full-city plus. For myself, once in a while I like a more robust cup, perhaps a darker roast, but for the crowd, I wanted a sweeter, more balanced coffee, and I believe the El Salvador Finca La Esperanza will fill the bill nicely.

This is a really nice daily drinker/crowd pleaser coffee. Chocolate, nutty, and cherry come to mind with this coffee and the body is really nice and smooth. It works great in blends as well. It was very forgiving to roast as well for beginners and experimenting.

Smooth and mild with nice flavor. I roasted it to about city (it's my first day roasting so I'm not 100% sure) but past first crack. I also tried different grinds and find it imparts more flavor at a very fine grind in my pour over brewer. This is a great evening coffee when I want some coffee but not necessarily an overly bold flavor.

I enjoyed the El Savador bean. I roasted it past first crack. First pot did not have abundant flavor. Next pot I adjusted the grind size silightly, and it was really good. Very easy drinking coffee. It is not a coffee that I would drink on a regular basis, but I definitely want to keep some in the pantry so I can roast a bag every now and then.

Makes a great roast at any level, but especially makes a great light roast. Very smooth.
