Shade-grown and younger than six years old (within its first few seasons of production), the Finca La Esperanza is sourced from a 2.5-acre family farm in San Martin’s Soritor village. The producer, Walter Gutierrez, purchased the once-abandoned Finca La Esperanza in 2007 and transformed it into a marvelous spot for Peru organic coffee to flourish. The Finca La Esperanza coffee is grown alongside corn and cocoa, proving the previous owner wrong and showing anything is possible. Finca La Esperanza’s cup profile has only improved with the farmers’ ever-growing education and organic certification throughout the years.
Coffee is Peru’s most prominent agricultural commodity, and it is the ninth-largest arabica producer in the world. Peru is also an organic coffee hotspot––there are 220,000 organic coffee farms––and high elevations with just the right amount of shade in the Northern Andes. Since farmers traditionally use all-natural methods when growing their beans (natural fertilizer, chemical/pesticide avoidance, and recycling coffee pulp, mulch, and other substances) it was only fitting that they strive for organic coffee excellence. Because of their efforts, the area is known as a sanctuary for birds and other docile wildlife in the balanced ecosystem, and San Martin’s rainforest is abundant with fertile soil.
Cupping Notes: Sweet aroma. Notes of bakers cocoa, sweet tangerine, peach and a dry almond finish. Very good acidity and mouthfeel.
Try before you stock up with a 1/2 pound sample!

This is a favorite. I roast it dark and let it rest for 5 days. I usually combine it 2-to-1 with Guatemala: Organic Decaf HHT Royal Select, Huehuetenango (also roasted dark). I've been using it pour-over, espresso, and Aero press. Not only am I impressed but so are friends.

Excellent tasting coffee! Would highly recommend this green coffee bean.

My first time roasting this one. Took it to a medium-dark. Let it rest for 5 days before cupping. First off the aroma of the roasted beans was amazing. I could tell they were going to brew a great cup. I do 18g coffee to 16oz water in my pour over. The result was exactly what I expected. Bold aroma and very complex flavor. It is a delicate sweet fruity tongue that finishes with a prominent cocoa flavor. Delicious. Definitely one of my new favorites. I'll definitely be buying more!

We have roasted, ground and enjoyed Fnca de Esperanza for several years. It takes a dark roast beautifully. My only regret is the last bag I ordered came in a plastic bag instead of burlap. Organic and shade grown makes me think you care about the environment. Plastic bags do not! Please go back to burlap. I've kept green coffee beans in burlap for over two years and they were still fresh tasting. Plus the emptied burlap bags are excellent for root vegetables, garlic and onions.

This is one of my favorites, delicate, complex yet consistantly pleasant regardless of roasting method from mild to medium. Hint of sweetness masked with subtle coco overtones. Mild roast captures best the full essence of the bean’s magic while medium roast stimulates it’s boldness. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I always roast in half pounds and try different roast profiles. This one I prefer the darker roast, just past second crack as opposed to just after first crack. Darker roast has more body and chocolate notes.

This has turned out to be my favorite cup of gold in the morning! I started with a dark roast and was loving it. Decided to stop at medium roast and wow the flavor notes were delicious… a delicious cinnamon flavor pops out!

Took this right up to FC and it has a tremendous depth to it. As far as tasting goes, the main word I have for it is "dark." I can see the tangerine/peach notes that are mentioned, but the lower notes of them. Like when they are just a bit overripe and the sugary-sweetness peaks out. I didn't get much in the way of almond on the back end, but that could just be due to how I roasted it. A feature that particularly impressed me was the dry fragrance and the wet aroma. They were very strong with the sweet/dark tones, with a bit of spice in there that added another layer of interest for me. Lastly, there was a bit of an issue with my order, but CBC customer service was quick to resolve.

Our favorite! Rich smooth flavor. Not herbal. Pretty easy to roast and get a consistent flavored brew. You should just take my word for it though and not buy this coffee. We would be heartbroken if it sold out. Thank you ;)

This is one of those coffees that can be roasted lightly but shows a great bold taste. Not over the edge bold, just really very nice. Recommend this one highly.

This is my second order and it is my favorite of all coffees. It has the bold flavor without the burn that most strong bold coffees have. I roast it to full city and enjoy every cup.

Perhaps my favorite coffee bean from Coffeebeancorral so far. Very smooth tasting with a bit of chocolate-like flavor. Roasted dark, ground in 1950s Dienes Handgrinder. Very nice, will buy again.

Roasted this coffee to a full city, and drinking a cup this morning. The initial brightness is present but not overwhelming. The brightness gives way to a strong dark chocolate finish. There is not a lot of natural sweetness, but it offers a full bodied cup. My goal will be to capture the next roast just past full city but before Vienna in hopes to soften the acidity.

Just tried this for the first time, and it’s definitely a keeper! It has a really rich, full flavor, with a strong taste of milk chocolate. I’ll be ordering more of this! Thanks!

Excellent flavor at light roast...medium acidity and smooth. Although I appreciate the natural burlap bag, I hate that burlap fuzz that contaminates the beans. Have to shake the beans and blow off the fuzz. I have had beans shipped in plastic ziplocks which was convenient, but the best packaging for the beans are the brown paper bags.

New to roasting and bought a sample bag. So far it has been excellent. Did a Viennese roast and the flavor is excellent. I had multiple people sample it and so far a favorite. Smooth as black, with cream, or with cream and sugar.

Out of the various beans I purchased for sampling, this one had by far the most pleasant aroma. These beans have a very fragrant chocolate bar smell when green, and after roasting to the first crack smells distinctly like a peanut butter cup. Makes a very smooth drinking cup of coffee or moka, though I will need to experiment with different roast profiles to bring out additional flavor. Definitely keeping this bean in my collection.

Venturing into green coffee, add this to your try list. No hint of 'pork', that seems to be present in Typica Bourbon, Blue Bourbon and Blue Mountain varieties.

Wanted something lower cost that didn’t sacrifice quality and got it with this product.
