It's so unique! I've tried Guatemalan robusta as a mixer, but never stand alone. I've been drinking this as an espresso, stand alone. The tasting notes are pretty much on. I get the popcorn (very light), a fairly heavy malt, and a hint of cocoa. Nothing reminds me of buckwheat, though I might get it if I went a touch lighter on the roast. I took it to a city plus in the hottop. There was a lot of chaff, and it took me a while to shake all of it out. I don't think I'll be blending it. It's so unique, that I don't want to change it much. The crema is unbelievable. I wouldn't want it very often, but I think I might keep some of the green beans on hand just to roast up a half pound every now and again just for the unique experience. Don't let the "robusta" scare you. If you like trying things that are different, you might well enjoy this.

I’ve tried blending the Indian cherry with Ethiopian misty valley with great results so far and will try using a little more Indian cherry next time to see what happens!

This is my second time roasting. I am using my oven, so I have to stay on top of it, the first time I made a Guatemalan robusta and loved it. When it came time to order again, I saw these and thought I would give it a shot. I love the earthy flavor and the strength that comes with robusta. These beans did not disappoint. It is an exceptionally strong and smooth cup of coffee, with a chocolatey and earthy undertone. I brew it with a fine grind through my Keurig. Two thumbs up for these beans.

I am having good results blending robusta beans with arabica, as some of the reviewers here have done. I am pleased with coffees from Coffee Bean Corral. These are my first beans from India which I will be blending with arabicas from Brazil and I am confident I will not be disappointed.

We use this with various Arabicas in a medium dark/dark roast. Usually 1/3 India Cherry Robusta and 2/3 Arabica. It is our daily morning coffee, made in a French Press. We're ordering more now.

I bought this to blend with a variety that had too much of a fruity taste and this works great for that. I roasted it to 2nd crack in my Behmor 1600+ on manual because I have more control over the process. I have been roasting for several years and like to experiment.

First timer roasting a Robusta, will try lower charge temp on M2 next time. Very smooth, earthy, with slight cocoa hints.

I bought this just to try and roasted it just to the end of 2nd crack in my FreshRoast 800. I ABSOUTELY LOVE this Robusta. I like it stand alone as well as in a blend. I also offered it in a small vendor event and the customers that bought it, came back again for more. Fantastic!!

Not my favorite. It has tons of quakers that gave it a popcorn smell. I tried roaating in my sr800 and my aillio bullet. The sr800's fast and done has the best outcome. Will not be ordering this one again.

Smooth and a bit of unexpected earthiness with a hint of floral at a just-under-dark roast. Just what I am looking for in the morning. Excellent with a rough grind in a French press.

Did not like it
Grossly underwhelming. I roasted it to first crack on my SR520 ~ 420F. I usually keep my coffee to first cracks and the espresso that i brewed was chalky and tasted bad (ash like comes to mind, although i have never tasted ash before). I will not buy this again although i will try brewing some french press coffee to ensure that it is not just a bad bean for espresso.

I was very curious after reading the descriptions and reviews. Now I can't fathom why robusta has a bad rap. First I tried it roasted just after first crack. It had a slightly gamey vegital flavor. Next roast was middle of second crack. Much better, but not wildly exceptional. It makes a really good coffee, better than anything you can buy in a supermarket. From the drip maker taste like a really good Americano. Brewed in the moka pot it's dense, rich, sweet and smooth. I had thought I was going to be experimenting blending with this but I enjoy it on its own. I believe this being naturally processed contributes to its sweetness and interesting flavor. I tried a washed robusta and understood the prejudice against the species. A slight aroma of burnt rubber was detected two weeks after roast, so I plan to roast one weeks worth at a time.

Wow. I'm impressed - and for the price! We ordered a couple of robustas to experiment with blending, and this was the clear winner. I roasted to a medium in order to get some of the varieties flavor and I really like the earthiness. Unfortunately, I see it's out of stock now, but I will be ordering more once there's some available. I drink primarily espresso, and blended with other varieties it makes a wonderful crema. Go for it.

Not my favorite, but I tried it on its own and there's an earthiness to it I just don't get in other coffees. But, after reading more about it, I do see it's best to use it in blends rather than on its own. I plan to do that with it.

A follow up review.
First off I would like to thank Coffee Bean Corral for offering 3 Robusta varieties, most green bean distributors don't offer even 1. I know there are other Robusta coffee lovers like me who appreciate the wonderful morning wake-up that it gives.
I've roasted all 3 CBC varieties and the clear winner for me is India Cherry Robusta. Taste is a personal thing and I admit Arabica tastes better than Robusta though I've found that India Cherry, for me, tastes better than some Arabicas I've roasted.
I just ordered 10 lbs. of India Cherry.

The high levels of caffeine and theobromine make this a great way to start my day. I also like the taste. After more testing I'll choose between this and CBC's Guatemalan Robustas to be my morning coffee.
