This Kenyan coffee comes from the Ndaroini Factory in Nyeri County, situated at 1700 meters above sea level on the fertile slopes of Mount Kenya near Karatina town. The factory benefits from exceptional geographic positioning, with clear views of both Mount Kenya's peak and the Aberdare mountain ranges on clear days.
Local farmers handpick only fully ripe cherries before delivering them to Ndaroini Factory for processing. Upon arrival, cherries undergo careful hand-sorting and weighing to ensure quality standards. The traditional Kenyan washed process includes pulping followed by 24-hour fermentation in tanks, allowing the coffee's characteristic bright acidity to develop.
After fermentation, the parchment coffee is sun-dried on raised beds for 14-21 days, with regular turning to ensure even drying. A final round of meticulous hand-sorting removes any remaining defects before the coffee is prepared for export, ensuring the clean, vibrant cup quality that Nyeri coffees are renowned for.
Cupping Notes: Lime, cranberry, and butterscotch notes; bright citric acidity, smooth, buttery character; vibrant fruitiness with a sweet finish.
