Panama Boquette has been my favorite for several years when our local roaster offered it. I used to buy roasted beans from him, but he couldn't always supply me with Panama Boquette. So, my kids got me a roaster and now I roast my own. I like the smooth flavor, and the way it smells right after grinding. I always take a huge whiff before I brew it.
I roast it to a medium roast and have found it to be quite satisfying. As far as all the "tones" and all that elite stuff, I couldn't tell you. My palate is not that refined. I just know it's never bitter, never flat, and has a good flavor.

Just finished my third batch, and I must say that this is a great all-around cup. I roasted one city roast, a dark and then a lighter (almost cinnamon) roast. Each one was a treat. At this price, I'd have to say it's a steal.

I first had Panama Boquete when I was a young 19 year old soldier stationed in Panama in the late 1980s. It totally blew my mind. Super smooth, exotic, and wonderful. This coffee is what made me a coffee lover. We are featuring this coffee for the next three months and our customers agree with my initial assessment. If you call yourself a coffee lover, you absolutely must try this coffee roasted to a medium. No coffee lover's resume is complete without Panama Boquete.

This is a real good coffee with creaminess and taste. Fruity as it cools and a good body. Very nice any time of day. Will buy again. Delicious.

Got this for my birthday and I roasted it to a Geisha profile that CBC was kind enough to provide for me. Talk about great service…they actually did a couple of roasts on their HotTop and sent me the profile. I adapted it to my machine and tastes and then bought 3 more pounds. It doesn’t get any better than this.

This is one of the finest coffees I’ve ever roasted. At a light-medium roast, it is very well balanced and has very mild bitterness. It is almost tea-like and has the perfect amount of sweetness. I can’t quite identify the fruit flavor. I let it rest for three days - perhaps a few more days is ideal. I’m purchasing more today!

Wow, is this good. Buttery mouthfeel for sure. Coats your mouth with savory goodness long after you take a sip. Prominent flavors to me are caramel, toffee, & a slight nuttiness. Definitely to the sweet side. A tinge of spice on the back end. This may be the winey/earthy taste described in CBCs notes above. Not getting any chocolate flavor, though my wife said she tasted a little. Very smooth, balanced, and complex. Flavors develop over time in your mouth, and blend together at the end. Just a delightful cup of coffee. Side note: I ordered a Panama Boquette from another vendor just to compare. Very comparable in taste and price (though CBCs were slightly cheaper due to the holiday sale). Biggest difference was that the other vendor's beans took 2 weeks to arrive. CBCs took 2 days. Won't name the other vendor, but her initials are SM. Might stand for Slow Moving!

This coffee stands out as a light, delicate, gentle, and smooth cup. I roasted it to just before second crack. I like it better in the Moka pot than as a pourover. Pre-brewing aroma both as a bean and as a grind is strong and cocoa crispies-like. You could almost convince yourself you're drinking tea.
I like sampling as many different beans as possible from CBC, and my opinion always falls in either "buy again" or "meh, try something else". These are definitely buy again.

A great bean to roast for those who enjoy cream in their coffee.

Update on my previous review about Panama Boquette SHB. Yesterday I roasted and could not wait to try it. This morning (24 hours later), I brewed several pots. Waiting 24 hrs. After roasting? HUGE difference, night and day! Just beginning to hit its peak. Roasted medium. Family breakfast. Everyone loved it. Very smooth. Left a nice ‘feel’ in the mouth after drinking. Flavors more complex, but nicely balance. Will buy again. Still delicious 😋 according to my wife’s review yesterday. Still yummy to me! 👍

Tastes OK. Most silver skin of any bean I have tried. Best for me with Full City+ or Vienna roasts.

Fantastic coffee. We typically favor African and Indonesian coffees over Central/South American coffees, but Panama Boquette is really pleasant. Roasted through first crack- there were still some residual pops but basically through. Infrared thermometer read 217c when I pulled it. A nice medium roast. Definitely a sweetness, and almost a viscosity to the end result. Brewed in Aeropress. One of my favorites for sure.

Makes a excellent drip and espresso. Roasted just before 2nd crack. The flavor profile matches the description. I will add it to my rotation.

This has been a very active seller in our small town America farmers market and our small store. Roasted at 13 to 14 with the mild flavor, it makes a great addition to our 10 plus varieties.

Balanced and smooth, still working with different levels of medium to find the perfect fit for us.

It was my first time with Panamanian coffee and I couldn't be more pleased. I opted to roast it to a medium dark (until 1st crack went quiet but not enter 2nd crack). Thrilled with the results. Brewed through an espresso machine captures every nuance.

After trying a few different roasts, I’m forced to conclude that my beans were past their prime. The beans reached the vendor 3/19 so my order is probably approaching a year old. They have the baggy, oxidized taste you would expect and I can’t ignore. I feel bad because I’m sure they were better 6 mos ago.

I bought a pound and roasted 25% in a dark roast and then the rest in lighter roast. both were fabulous. I enjoyed the lighter roast more.

I'm cupping this new arrival for the first time as I review. It's a nice balanced cup. Mild acidity roasted at full city. 50 seconds past first crack and dropped before the start of second crack.
The flavor is complex and is a crowd pleaser. Five stars is hard to get from this cupper but I'd recommend this green.

I’m just getting into roasting and have tried a bunch of different beans so far. This one is at the top of the list. I prefer a nothing fancy, plain Jane type of coffee, and for me, this is it. Roasted it for 2 min after first crack, for a nice medium roast. I’ll be stocking up on this one.

I am an impatient roaster I roasted it this morning should be ground in brewed tomorrow morning, but couldn’t wait.My wife took a whiff and even she wanted to try a cup for someone that rarely ever drinks coffee after the morning.Perhaps I will get back with you with more details later especially after tomorrow because tomorrow morning we’re having it again I’ll see what 24 hours will do. But right now today, we even kept it first. And both of us could tell there was the flavor of molasses. My wife said delicious and the only thing I can come up with until another time is, yummy! Not a real professional review is it? 😂

I didn't particular care for this bean. I tried different roast levels and different brew levels. I was never able to get a flavor out of it. It was just like, meh.

Was disappointed that the flavor was weak at a med to dark roast. No chocolate notes in a vanilla latte.

I cannot vouch for the "nutty" or "buttery" tones of this blend because my coffee palate is not that sophisticated. It is a mild bean, almost like drinking tea, and it was hard as hell to grind. That baffled me. I will not buy it again. I miss Cuban coffee. Too bad El Escorial does not ship to the states.
