This coffee causes problems for me. I have to be careful serving it to "strangers" because they tend to come back after that, actually asking for a cup of coffee. Seriously, when my sister had need of home health care, I served the nurse a cup of La Magnolia. Instead of visits every other day, my sister was treated to them EVERY day, first thing in the morning, because the nurse liked the coffee so much. It is truly the best I've ever had and I get nothing but complements on it. Edna in SW Florida

We tried over 7 samples from Coffee Bean Corral, this was by far the best! Friday, someone brought in Starbucks as a 'treat'. It was no comparison to Tres Rios...I took several sips, then had to go back to my own (which I always bring to work). This is balanced perfectly. Nothing really stands out, it is just perfect. Some coffees you can really taste 'fruit' or 'nut'...ok if you like that, but if you want a coffee that is just perfect..not too much nut, or too much spice, etc..this is it! I have had coffee like this from upscale restaurants, they don't tell you where they got it but call it their 'house blend'....well, now I know the name...Costa Rican Tres Rios La Magnolia.

Am I allowed to leave a second review? It's been several years since I left my first review of La Magnolia. Over those years, I've gone through financial woes, serious health issues, emotional problems, a forced move from my home, etc., etc. Because of all this, I stopped roasting my own coffee and existed on what I could afford, although I generally tried to at least get whole bean and grind it daily. Recently I was digging through my storage unit and came across my old green coffee bean container. It's an airtight canister and still had some La Magnolia beans in it. Now, those beans have got to be at least 4 years old, maybe older. However, I located the old roaster and fired up a batch. I didn't expect much out of beans that had been languishing in an un-airconditioned storage unit in SW Florida. However, the aroma reached me first. I could hardly wait the 24 hours' rest that I always try to give my newly roasted beans, but I managed. Barely. As the water seeped through my very cheap Walmart Special coffee maker, the unmistakable aroma of La Magnolia filled my small kitchen. It was like coming home to find an old friend. Still the same fabulous aroma and flavor. I have tried a lot of different coffees, especially since my original supplier dropped this one from their inventory. I found Coffee Bean Corral carried it and I bought it from them for several years. I will be putting in another order for fresh La Magnolia beans next week. There is simply no comparison, no matter how much you pay for those other beans!

The cleanest and most marvelous cup of coffee you will experience. We found it at a major online green coffee seller and they had it for 2 or 3 years. They then discontinued it even though customers begged them to get it back. I guess they don't care much about their customers, so they lost many! I searched elsewhere and found Coffee Bean Corral who had it AND KEEPS IT in stock!! Thank God! We now buy it here and drink only La Magnolia!!

I enjoyed having this coffee in my line-up. It's the kind when that you are saying, "Let's see, what should I roast for tomorrow morning?", it jumps out at you: "I know! I'll roast that citrus/chocolate stuff from Costa Rica." Great in a French Press. Its one of those coffees that gets better the cooler it gets. (Maybe I'll try it iced sometime.) Evan in Lowell, MA

This has become our staple coffee! Saying that makes it sound "usual", "ordinary", and therefore unremarkable. But what is remarkable is that it is so just plain good that it can become the only coffee you want to drink in the morning! It has everything I love in a morning coffee, period. An appetizing aroma that is entirely consistent with its bright, sunny flavor. A full, satisfying body. A marvelous, lingering aftertaste without a hint of bitterness. And all of these things in a magical balance that persists through the whole temperature range as the cup cools. If you want a coffee that tastes just like, well, coffee, and one of the best you have ever tried, look no further! My Behmor home roaster makes a great light-to-medium roast, and darker not so great. But that happens to be the perfect roast for this coffee. A little past the first cracking(s) and just into the beginnings of the second. It's forgiving if you over roast a little, but just take it easy on this one. I can roast a pound at a time, and I usually do two roasts in a session, which typically gives us roasted beans for a week to 10 days. When we use up a batch, I have one ready to go and then soon roast another to have on hand. And the beans do not diminish in quality over this (what I consider brief) storage time. I simply cannot imagine anyone being disappointed in this incredible coffee!

It's good in a french press, but I think even better in a Chemex (but then, isn't everything?) Smooth, flavorful, clean and classic but with enough fruity notes to make it a great morning coffee.

I didn't purchase the green coffee beans to roast and drink, rather to make an herbal decoction for venomous snake bites. I have the beans in the tincture medium now and actually hope I never need it, but will use it in the remedy recipe I have in case a poisonous snake and a human or dog get in each other's way! I may actually try roasting some of the beans to enjoy as a morning beverage.

This morning I had a most pleasant coffee “left over” experience blending the Costa Rica Tres Magnolias and Yergaceffe in a 50-50 mixture. The coffee prepared in a pour over brewer produced an opulent mix of dark chocolate, citrus, cardamom and subtle cinnamon flavors and aromas. The resulting blend got my attention so strongly that I roasted a week's worth of beans.

This is the 4th time we have purchased this variety (last two as 10lb bag. All they list as notes or flavors I agree but my simple way of expressing is just Mmmmmmm, best cup of coffee!

I was not overly excited about this coffee... I tried roasting it light, med, and dark and it's just not for me. I think the fruit taste is a little overbearing...IMO

One word....Amazing! The other coffee from costa rica - La Minita Tarrazu is equally great, but more pricey. Although this one is a big stronger & more complex. Will be buying both again for sure! Definitely recommends this!

My first experience with unroasted coffee and surprisingly enough, not a bad experience at all. I chose Cosa Rica La Magnolia Tres Rios because of the description. I chose well. Although it is not quite up to what I am looking for, it is a very tasty coffee. I simply will try to decipher the language of "Coffee" until I find exactly what I like. I would recommend this coffee and Coffee Bean Corral to friends. Overall I am satisfied and will enjoy my continued search.

Read the reviews for this coffee on this site and 2 others. Could not find anyone giving less than 5 stars anywhere. I've tried it and it's as good as advertised. Beautifully balanced, smooth rich coffee. The only problem is that is tastes too good. Hard to stop at less than 3 cups per day. Great by itself, will now be the base of my espresso blends. If someone is home roasting for the first time, this is the one to try. First crack to second crack, you can't go wrong and will be rewarded with an exceptional cup of coffee.
