If you like La Magnolia, you will fall in love with La Gladiola!
The fruit that comprises La Gladiola comes from the Western portion of the Tarrazu valley. The fruit is purchased from specific farmers, process it at La Minita's mill, Beneficio del Rio Tarrazu and kept separate from their other trademark coffee beans.
Cupping Notes: Wonderful acidity, good body with some citrus and cocoa notes.
Try before you stock up with a 1/2 pound sample!

Loved it, very balanced and light. Good sweetness, low bitterness and acidity.

Beans are as described. Coffee bean corral never seems to disappoint. Great product, lightning shipping.

This bean has been our house coffee for years. I take it well into second crack. Probably the smoothest dark roast I’ve come across.

The best coffee ever I have bought different, but this is the best coffee ever for me
by DEANNE MCKEE on February 6, 2022
Super fast delivery! Everything I expected. But WOW, I have never roasted fresh green coffee beans before. What a difference!!! I will never buy roasted coffee again. I only roasted in my cast iron skillet and aired for a few days. I cannot imagine how good it would be with a more sophisticated roasting operation. I will definitely order more!

Welcome to Coffee Paradise! The roasting was easy not surprises. All three sense Color, Aroma, and Sound. Completely through the first crack to the start of the second on my SR800. I split my Sample bag roughly in half, The Aroma of the beans after and hour was Buttery smooth and now the next day great flavor, add some music and you are off to coffee paradise with the stress of Monday has no place! Ordered 5lbs !

Interesting, mellow, low acidity, usually take it to a minute or so past first crack. This coffee is one of our favorites and I like to have some in home coffee bea rotation all the time.

Roasted this coffee beans to med roast at temp 410 very smooth coffee

Man, oh man, is this a good bean. For me it's a quick roasting bean. I start at 220C for 25 minutes, which gets me to second crack and finish at 240C for 5 minutes. The results: smooth, buttery, nutty, good to the last drop. Not bad for a 30 minute roast time if I saw so myself. I also watch the color when to stop roasting. I prefer a walnut color with most of my beans I get from CBC. For those interested in shrinkage, I start with a pre-roast weight of 10oz and finish with 8.7oz.

Roasted light it has wonderful notes of orange, apple, toasted almond, and honey. Roasting 200g on a electric barrel roaster, FC was at a bean temperature of 375 and dropped at 380.

This is an excellent coffee that roasts well and provides a balanced cup of coffee with fine body. It is not quite up to the quality of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, but is a very good coffee for a daily morning cup. I am happy that I bought this and will be happy to order it again.
by cvandenhaute on January 20, 2021
It works very well as an espresso, with a nice thick texture, tiger stripes, round pleasant, a nice almond taste but a bit weak on fruit and brightness. After a few more days, I detected more dark chocolate notes. I will probably use it as a base for making a blend with a fruit bomb.
by Scott on December 15, 2020
Consistently, consistent roast! Leading into FC around 325° the aromatics of chocolate waft from the roaster. Upon conclusion of FC somewhere around 400° the beans are a beautiful brown and ready for cooling. The are immediately amazing but there’s definitely a reward in the patience of letting them rest and develop further. Give them a shot and see what that reward is for yourself.

After a little experimentation using an air pop popcorn maker, I found letting it go 2 minutes after the second crack started. Perfect dark roast with full flavor. Delicious!

The Gladiola makes a really great cup. I like it in the morning because it has a pleasant brightness that's not too acidic or bitter. It's bright but not "thin" tasting--still has body and is complex enough to elevate it beyond "just another cup of coffee." I like it not too dark--maybe just beyond second crack and then let it rest for a day or two. I recommend you give it a try.

Super good light-medium roast, full of flavor. Creates a nice balance of mild fruit notes with some cocoa earthiness. Smooth and a great every morning cup.

This gladiola is excellent not to fruity very nice coco back round ,I drink it all day !! Roast about 2 mins past 2nd crack
by @MikeSigers on January 19, 2020
Used my Hive roaster, went about 10 1/2 mins and let 'em sit 3-4 days and found a fairly bright acidity, but in a good way, along with a great, creamy body with some cocoa notes. Very smooth and mellow. I will definitely buy 'em again.

We are very picky these days.... The Costa Rica tarrazu variety of beans are the only ones we have found so far that is smooth without bitter aftertastes. Oak roasted till mid(ish) second crack is pretty tasty and provides us with the best flavor profile. We've tried other samples over the last few years, but keep coming back to tarrazu for the last 4 years.

I agree with most of the reviews, solid earthy flavor with nothing else standing out much. I did a medium roast, prepared with both pour-over and Aeropress and got the same experience. A good cup of coffee that doesn't have anything exotic to stand out, but also no real flaws. You could do a lot worse when looking for "just a cup of coffee"
by William Thesing on October 14, 2019
My 2nd order of this bean. Use it in between roasts of La Magnolia (our favorite), and La Minitia. I sometimes blend them for a little more variety. Roast range on all from medium to 2nd crack plus 1.5 minutes. Can't miss!!
by Steve on July 18, 2019
La Gladiola is a solid tasting coffee. No super high notes, but no flaws either. I drink a lot of coffee every day and I would reorder this coffee without question. This is the kind of coffee you can sit around the kitchen table drinking without noticing how good it really is. I roast to start of the second crack and let my Cafe Gene self cool which takes the beans a bit darker (no oil). I have tried both a coarse and a medium rind using an OXO burr grinder, brewed at 200 degrees and find both fine. I have settled on the medium grind. I agree with the earthy, not too fruity review with regard to taste.

A great value for a very nice cup of coffee.

A++ for me
by Bill on April 2, 2019
I've ordered all 3 of the La Minitia beans. La Magnolia is outstanding! Couldn't imagine much better until my 1st mug of La Gladiola. This has a little more earthiness, which I love. I enjoy darker roasts averaging 1.5 to 2 minutes into 2nd crack. Cooler temps (400 F) to extend 1st and 2nd cracks, allowing for build of sugars. 12 G per 10 oz. mug (280G), French press @ 4 min 30 sec. A perfect cup if there is such a thing.

Just Ok... nothing more than ok... just a notch above not so good.

I've been searching for an everyday bean that gave me the taste I like. I've been buying different beans and trying them alone and then blended with other beans. When I found this coffee I found the perfect cup for me. Very earthy and not too fruity.
