Hands down one of the best beans I've ever roasted.

I love this bean, by itself and also as a blend in worth Papua new guinea. Best dark roast I've found!

This is my second time getting the Jinotega beans. They are amazing in my opinion. I roast them to medium-dark right at second crack on a Nesco. Let them rest for a few days and medium grind. Smooth, chocolate, subtle, no bitterness at all. a little citrus. I love this bean!

In looing back at my roasting records about 4 years ago this was my highest rated overall coffee - the beans back then were extraordinarily large. I use a freshroast 500 with 115 grams ending up with around 95 grams just touching the second crack & cooling in 2.5 minutes. I've done 6 batches tweeking the roast time/heat level etc. and all I get is an extremely strong dark unpleasant tasting cup. Sorry, but I can't recommend it. WLS

I like very dark roast and bold flavor and do well with the African beans. I wanted to try this because of the good reviews but it's not my style now that I have brewed it a few times. It has the most chaff of any coffee bean I have roasted. Maybe it does better with regular city roast but anything beyond that I find it lacking. It is smooth with complexity but not as bold as I prefer.

My first time trying beans from Nicaragua... I roasted them to 440F, just finished the second crack. Waited 48 hours and brewed them in a French Press.... full body, bold, chocolate notes... These are so yummy that I am tempted to coat them in dark chocolate and eat them as candy! I am ordering more ASAP!

This is a really great coffee at City+ - Full City roast levels. Brewed as a pour over, I got great milk chocolate notes with some orange, citrus acidity as it cooled. The body was the best part. The mouthfeel was creamy and lingered on your tongue.

Roasted just into second crack. Wonderful flavor in my French press. Smooth, “chocolaty”, good balance and mouthfeel.

Working my way through a 5 pound bag and I am really enjoying this bean. I prefer a darker roast and this bean does not disappoint in my brewing method. It really has a nice flavor.
I grind 8 ounces at a time and cold brew an elixir that I use over the next few days. 2 ounces of elixir to 6 ounces of hot water so a batch will make about 12 cups of hot coffee. This is the best bean I have tries so far with this method. It also makes a great single cup of grind and brew coffee.

I've been buying 3 varieties for some time now and always make a note to myself that this is my favorite. From now on I'm going to be buying 5 pounds at a time. This is a pretty forgiving bean roasted just into second crack or a bit beyond. Let it set for a day or two and it's good to go. Smooth and full of flavor. The service is excellent too.
