This African coffee variety is wild and gamey, the good kind of gamey that tells you this is not a domesticated coffee. This coffee is a blend from various coffee producers from across the Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions. These groups come from districts in Kilimanjaro such as Hai and Moshi Rural district, in addition the coffee was also sourced from Meru district close to the town of Arusha. The producers of this coffee have farms between 1-2 hectares in size and intercrop with bananas and avocado. The coffee is fully washed and processed on the farms using the locally made hand pulpers, buckets for fermentation and dried on raised beds.
Cupping Notes: Deep and rich in flavor with lots of spices and herbs (plus some crunched-up flowers) in this cup, tastes that linger on your palate. Fruity overtones of raspberry, blueberry, and orange with dark chocolate that nicely balance the florals and spice.
Try before you stock up with a 1/2 pound sample!
Cupping Notes: Blueberry, chocolate, strawberry, floral, clean, consistent, balanced, bright lemony sweetness.

This is a must have in my collection. I roasted to first crack (medium) on my SR540 and boy, the espresso that i brewed is simply phenomenal. The flavors of the coffee just pop out nicely. I cannot stop with one shot and need to keep going for more! Very fruity and there is a chocolate taste that lingers. Nice and thick body as well. The coffee roasts well and doesnt create a lot of chafe.

we really love the flavors in this coffee, and the aroma from this when you grind it is amazing!

I purchased a pound of this Tanzania Peaberry mid August of 2022. This morning (9/3/2022) I roasted the first 8 oz of it in my Turbo Crazy. It looked so good that I pulled a shot of espresso from it a few hours later, and it is absolutely delicious. A nice, high note balanced by a very nice deep body. Can't wait to try it as a pour over after it's rested a day or two. I roasted this to full city, maybe a bit beyond, just into second crack. It roasted up really well, very even. The beans are absolutely beautiful, perfectly processed and no bad beans. Really nice, high quality coffee! I will be ordering more of this coffee!

Bright and fruity, but complex with richer undertones. Surprisingly good for ice coffee, too!
by Smooth and rich on June 29, 2022
One of my favorites. I took this roast to 1 minute after second crack on my Behmor roaster. Great flavor of chocolate and a mild earthy tone. This is a perfect bean for espresso.

My favorite variety.

This coffee has a strong flavor. I definitely would order it again
by Crewse on April 5, 2022
One of favorite beans to roast and drink! I use an iron skillet method over a propane fire (an old fish frying set-up), and I like to roast it just almost to second crack for a very smooth cup once it has off-gassed and rested for 2-3 days. Definitely, a favorite and quickly becoming a staple in my coffee stash.

Experimenting with it as a blend with the Brz Bour Pearl So far so good -nice balance and smooyh

Beans came out great. Very tasty.
by Sandra Fitzgerald on December 22, 2021
The most fragrant beans I’ve roasted so far, and I’ve roasted Guatemalan, Ethiopian, and Brazilian on cast iron over organic fire. This Tanzanian beans roasted very uniformly, which helps to keep control of darker roasting, and it’s aroma was fantastic even though the resting 18 hrs of rest. My dark roast was fruity and more on the bitter side resembling a french roast. I mixed with some Ethiopian for my enjoyment. It’s a must try!

I have never roasted a peaberry. I have an SR800 and I roasted this to 430 degrees. First crack was very hard to hear in both roasts I did but going by sight and temp the came out great. It is fabulous in espresso with milk. It's also really good in a drip coffee maker. This one is one I'll roast again. I really like beans that are versatile and taste great in espresso and just regular old coffee makers.
by Steve Binderup on October 22, 2021
I love these beans. I roast a mix of dark roast and medium roast. Everyone loves my coffee.

by Fred L McIntosh on July 15, 2021
a couple years ago I purchased Tanzania Peaberry and it was much better.
by GatorUA on June 20, 2021
The first time I got this as a sample, I roasted this a bit darker than I usually go, there was oil coming out of it after offgassing. I was unimpressed but my husband loved it. I roasted some again, this time a bit past first crack but not to dark, and we both found it tasty. We'll be keeping this in our coffee rotation.

Out of several different beans we tried, the Tanzania Peaberry—at light, medium and dark roasts—has the robust body and full flavor we look for, without the sour finish many such beans also have. Our favorite, by far; warm thanks to the staff at Coffee Bean Corral for their recommendation!
by Tom McCarthy on June 16, 2021
Always have loved the peaberry coffee from Tanzania. Makes wonderful cold brew if you roast medium/dark.
by Jason W on May 31, 2021
Best. Roasted up really well. My favourite bean and medium light roast brings out the flavours.
by gmensing on May 9, 2021
I was worried that my HotTop would be too porous for these peaberries but it worked perfectly. 250g - slow rise from Dry (4.9min) to FC 11.3min @344f. Dropped after 15.0min at 380f (City+). Vivid wild flavors - spicy herbs with some fruity flowers that are balanced exactly the way I love them. This is definitely among my favorites. (6 Months experience roasting)

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get a good rolling first crack with this coffee. The first batch started to get a good crack going but the temperature was running away and I had to dial it back which interrupted the crack, and then I got the crack started again but it didn't last as long as it should. Ever after that it seemed I could not get a continuous crack going. Temperature, smoke, color, etc said it was well into City+ but it never really cracked. Despite that it still tastes good, but needs full extraction to avoid grassiness.

This is my wife and I favorite coffee to roast and drink. This bean really stood out from all the rest.
by John on April 7, 2021
This is a competition worthy coffee. It has a special mix of boldness, richness, dark chocolate, a hint of tobacco, stone fruit sweetness and a lift of citrus. The aftertaste lingers soft and warm. It earns ever bit of 5 stars.
by Ghandi on January 21, 2021
Roasted to French, lots of smoke in my neighborhood, rustic flavors, highly recommend for those who love deep rich cups of coffee. Outstanding blended with Colombian at Vienna roast.
by Bruce on January 14, 2021
This is the first time I've roasted Tanzania. Truly spectacular! Maybe one of my very favorites now. Very sweet citrus notes from a light roast from start to finish. Doing pourover on a Kalita Wave 155. Highly recommended!

Over several years of roasting this coffee has been one of my favorites- love the taste, I usually roast just past first crack. Friends have also given nice feedback!
by Cat on Street on November 29, 2020
fruity (but only very subtle acidity) and pronounced sweetness with rich and smooth body. Great coffee!
by Gary Bergman on November 5, 2020
Roasts beautifully, wonderful aroma, and fantastic taste. Roasted just to the second crack. Delicious
by gbjork20 on September 7, 2020
Beautiful coffee. I roasted this bean to a medium-dark roast and allowed it to rest for a minimum of 72 hours. This peaberry has such a naturally sweet profile. I've already ordered more to roast a small batch to share with friends and family. By far wins the spot for my go-to bean.

Second roast... yummmmm Took it to dark and shiny, this time less cinnamon but rich chocolate flavor and more body emerged ... this bean has something for everyone no matter how light or dark. My guess is this one is a real favorite of many! If you haven't tried this one DO IT!!!!
by Barbara on May 13, 2020
It's ok, but is to hard no good blended.
by Yabadabadoo on May 12, 2020
City fans should adore this bean!!! My first impression while roasting my first batch was the distinct cinnamon aroma. I stopped the roast in the second crack because the aroma was really cinnamon ... I usually go to the "dark side" lol but stopped earlier than I usually do to preservethe spiced notes. ... I haven't let the beans rest yet but I went ahead and pulled a shot. The grind smells heavenly. The shot is a little sour for my taste but city roast fans should absolutely love this bean. The cinnamon is pretty strong. I'm going to go a bit darker on my next try and hope the beauty survives.
by Jarred on April 11, 2020
Favorite bean I've roasted. Beautifully bright and smooth. I get lots of tangy lemon followed by peachy/fruity sweetness.
by ShanO on March 11, 2020
I have to agree with all the other reviews, this coffee is really great, well balanced, and smooth. I roast this a medium, and let off-gas for 24hrs. This is one of my "will buy again" top coffee beans to keep on hand without a doubt.
by Herb on April 19, 2019
One of my top 3 and keep it "in stock". Have found a lighter roast more flavorful. In my Fresh Roast, it's a quick roast at 3 minutes +/-.
