Description

raw green bean Green coffee is raw Roast prior to consumption

Our Fair-Trade Organic (certified by the Highland Organic Agricultural Cooperative) Papua New Guinea Purosa AX hails from the Eastern Highlands provinces––Ivangoi, Purosa, and Okapa––and is procured by over 3,000 farmers. Due to the mineral-rich volcanic soil and jungle climate, Papua New Guinea farms can supply two crop cycles per year! This lot is de-pulped and dried in parchment––it’s then loaded onto trucks as it makes its way to Goroka, where it’s milled, graded, and bagged. Once the coffee is ready for export, it’s taken to the Port of Lae––the country’s largest, most successful port.

Cupping Notes: Cane sugar sweetness, medium acidity and creamy body with sweet caramel overtones and a slight cocoa note on the finish.

I am not a coffee connoisseur, but I roast my own coffee and don't drink anything I haven't roasted, ground and brewed myself. This is one of my very favorites, with its hearty earthiness and hints of chocolate. I always shoot for a medium roast on my Behmor, about 120-150 seconds after first crack on a 300 to 325 gram batch.

Still searching for that big one but this surprised me. I found it very smooth and the Carmel overtones are what I’ve been looking for. Roasted to just on the 2nd Crack and then took them off and allowed them to continue off the heat before cooling. I thought this tasted better than the Bali Blue Moon and cost less. I will definitely buy these again, for sure.

I recently received an 8-oz sampler bag of Papua New Guinea Organic Purosa AX FTO. I pre-heated my roaster, and then roasted the beans for 12 minutes at 225. It yielded a delicious full-bodied dark roast with no detectable unpleasant aftertaste. Also gave me laser-like focus. I plan on buying a 50-lb bag of it.

I have put this coffee in my main rotation. It is such a good and full coffee flavor, yet super smooth. At a medium roast its perfect for the first cup(cups) of the morning. Deep sweet coffee chocolate and berry flavors soak your mouth..have a 10pound bag to use everyday.

I took this bean to a dark roast and it handled this amount of heat very well. It developed a rich, deep flavor.

One of the truly great coffees. Nice rich smooth flavor that is enhanced by wonderful aromas from roasting to cupping. Those who have a cup invariably will ask you what type of coffee you are serving (the ultimate compliment for fresh Roasted coffee).

What a great bean! Very creamy with good sweetness and caramel overtones with a little bit of cocoa. I like this roasted fairly light to medium. I stop it right at the end of first crack and it really seems to bring out all of the complexity and flavor.

Smooth cup. Perfect for my morning activity working online. I'm not one that is looking for "cupping" tones, just want a good cup of coffee, and this fits the bill.

Rpasted to medium and also to second crack. Very smooth. Have used for turkish coffee and regular pour over. Profile listed is accurate, and really enjoy the chocolate and earthy notes with the slight nuttiness. Pairs well with almost anything, and if roasted darker stands up to "flavorings." Good for regular morning cup, Turkish, Cuban, or for a great finish to a pastry.

Papua New Guinea is my go to bean for roasting. I find it less acidic than some others I have roasted and stands up well to a darker roasting, more nutty with medium roast. I am never disappointed with this one.

This is my favorite. I started roasting in 2019 and love it. I have probably tried 30 to 40 different kinds and laned on this one. All are good, some just better than others. Still trying samples but this is my daily stuff.

I roasted this with an Ethiopian variety on my cast iron to second crack. I love it, the flavors blend will with the Ethiopian, great full body, cocoa hints and a slight sweetness to it. It is divine!

This is my go to bean right now. I’m a new home roaster and this bean has been easy to “get right”. I roast for about 1:20min after FC for a medium roast and love it. I get Very consistent results. Love the flavor and aromas from this bean. I mostly make espresso based drinks, but occasionally do a pour over and this bean is great for both.

I love a dark roast and this bean is perfect. I took it to 435F and it had a wonderful deep flavor, low acidity and notes of cacao. This makes a fabulous cold brew!

This may be my favorite coffee I've bought to roast in the past who knows how long. Full bodied, smooth, beautiful cacao notes. Very mocca-java. Buying a bunch more!, just a great morning cup. This is my Christmas coffee gift roast!

Yes, this makes a good dark roast. The flavor isn't wildly complex, but it isn't boring either. I think it has a solid, bold flavor with a gentle finish. I think it has appeal for a wide range of coffee drinkers - your coffee snobs and bargain coffee drinkers will all enjoy it.

These have been some of my favorite beans for years. Love the mellow full bodied flavor- sweet, nutty and chocolatey with great crema. I roast to a complete second crack and then let it “age” for a couple weeks before drinking (like a fine wine!). Makes a delicious, supple latte.

I think slightly over 1C is the right spot - smooth and chocolaty. Could get some floral around 1C, but the acidity was sometimes overwhelming.

This is a great PNG. I use it in a number of different espresso blends as well as the ristretto blend mentioned in the Brazilian Fazenda review. This has decent body and a kind of gentle acididity that works well in expresso. Kind of a tea like overtone that is smooth yet has subtle shifting flavors. Also makes a nice ristretto, a little acidic but laid back as well. Not a daily ristretto for me, but it blends well for a little higher note espresso. Regular user on this one.

Based on my CBC receipts, I've apparently (!) roasted and therefore consumed (!!) nearly 150lbs of different beans, almost a year to the day with my Genie Cafe. These and La Magnolia (Costa Rica) are stellar beans with any roast/grind you put on them!!!

Wasn’t a love it but it was a definite like it. Once roasted it came out exactly as described with that cocoa finish. The caffeine didn’t give me jitters and was actually a preference for morning drinking

I've gotten a lot of great beans here but this varietal is the first one that my husband has gone wild over. Smooth, slightly sweet & nutty and absolutely lovely at City roast. One of my favorites!

If I give every coffee five stars it’s only because I chose coffees which fit my tastes based on the descriptions by Corral and other reviews. I generally don’t get Papua New Guinea or Sumatran- I don’t know why. Can’t stand beet root or mushrooms either. It’s a taste thing. I’ve been trying a few coffees not my favorites as comparison and finding they are really good. This does have some stronger flavors but smoothed out after a few more days resting. Very dark roast with lots of smoke. Very aromatic when grinding.

A nice balance of chocolate and natural sweetness (more pronounced as it cools).

Even with a dark roast this one does not get bitter. The cocoa flavor at the end caps it off just right. I would say this one would be a regular in our monthly purchases except we are running across too many beans that are great. Still we will be purchasing again.

Of all of the PNG varieties out there the Purosa AX FTO has been my go to for the ultra dark Italian roast. It has a very smooth finish and maybe not "complex" but well rounded taste. I'm not a huge cold brew fan normally but the PNG Purosa worked well and made a really good cup too. Coffee Bean Corral has been by far a great company to deal with and has a great sampler collection if you are unsure of where to start in your coffee roasting adventures. Good luck a keep experimenting.

My first roast with this bean, medium roasted. Will to buy again

I am giving this 4 stars because the taste is spot on. Truly good. It loses a star because of the consistency of bean quality. I need to sift out a handful of bad beans in each 1/4 lb of beans that I roast. The size of bean is small to extra large. Granted, this is marked organic - I can’t judge it too harsh.

I like to mix it with Brazil Daterra 50/50 and roast it close to French. Both coffees are good, a bit expensive, but I guess that what we pay when we want green coffee.

Fantastic to roast! I use my Fresh Roast SR 800 and stop right after 2nd Crack. Papa has been a long time fav. I used to get it roasted from La Colombe and it is good. This was my first time roasting my own but will not be my last. Thank you Coffee Bean Coral for making this available and fast shipping. Ordering more soon.

I found the flavors are delicate and hard to develop without under or over roasting. Of course, it could just be me and my FreshRoast 500. 😁 Still, it’s a very pleasant coffee.

This is a good earthy coffee. I roasted this to first crack and it seems a little to bitter for my taste. I think a darker roast would make this a better cup.

ROASTED 1LB LAST NIGHT IN A NON STICK FRENCH CULINARY PAN W GLASS LID. LOW METWEEN LOW & MEDIUM FLAME. WHEN I SAW MOISTURE UNDER LID I REMOVED AND STIRRED W LARGE WOODEN SPOON. DID THIS 2 TIMES THEN UPPED THE FLAME SLIGHTLY CLOSER TO MEDIUM. BEANS STARTED CRACKING SLOWLY WHILE I CONTINUED STIRRING FROM THE PERIMATER TO THE INSIDE.AFTER 15 -20 MINUTES I HAD 50/50 MEDIUM TO DARK BEANS. I REMOVED FROM HEAT & LET COOL ON A CERAMIC DINNER PLATE. AFTER COOLING TO ROOM TEMPERATURE I PUT THE 1LB BEANS IN A AIRTIGHT GLASS CONTAINER. 14 HRS LATER I GROUND BEANS TO A FLOUR CONSISTENCY.ADDED WATER AND THE COFFEE MAKER WAS A NINJA SET AT RICH BREW. I LIKE MY COFFEE DARK RICH & SMOOTH. THIS BEAN FOR ME NEEDS TO HAVE MORE GROUND BEANS TO 1 CUP SPARKLETTS WATER. AFTER MIXING W WHIPPING CREAM & SUGAR TO TASTE I REALIZED IT WAS TOO WEAK FOR ME. I STARTED OVER MAKING 1 CUP W 2 HEAPING TBLESPOONS OF GROUND PAPA NEW GUINEA BEANS. WOW! RICH,DARK,SMOOTH & A LITTLE TOO 💪 STRONG. OK SO THIS COFFEE ROASTING IS DEFINATELY A SCIENCE! I INVENT CHEMICALS FOR THE POLISHED CONCRETE INDUSTRY! COFFEE IS ABOUT AN INDIVIGUALS PERSONAL TASTE.MORE CHALLENGING..HOWEVER IT HAS ITS REWARDS! SPECIAL THANKS TO CATHERINE MANSELL FOR GREAT 👍 INTEGRITY MR.KIM S.STEVENS
